Fixing the clock

Like i said, how can i fix the clock? it just doesn't work. I heard you could take it out and re sauder a piece onto it? what cha thinkin tell me, i do have a sauder gun and a good pair of hands

Not quite. You remove the assy from the car and then remove the screws on the back until you expose the circuit board. Then you find where the connector attaches to the assy, and reheat the solder points for the pins that make connection with the plug. The problem is caused by *cold solder joints*. When the job was done the first time the solder was not heated properly and did not flow as it should. Or it could be contamination. I've done three of these units and they all worked again just by reheating the cold solder joints. Easy job. If I did it, anybody can.P.S. You do not add anything, just resolder.

I tried to resolder many weird looking stuff but my clock still doesn't work.
My idiot lights work but the clock doesn't.
Anyone know which joints are for the clock?

ya saw that but the clock still won't work.
Maybe I'll try resoldering every one of them when I have time.

Mine sort of works

Comes on for a few minutes when started then disappears..

ok now i have this little thing in my hand and dont wanna rip apart.i got it dissasembled up untill the white backing part. screws are out and i dont wanna just yank on it. does it just come apart?am i missing something? my clock just flashes off and on but dont wanna break it! someone HELP!!!asap. p.s. that site above does not work for me?

well i just rgot it apart! damn people really know how to hide screws! assy gotcha!!so im looking and right next to the **** to set the time the little blue pill looking thing, the other side of it looks a little toast. could this be the problem? resoder that? need it back together tonight!!

It comes off fairly easily. The reason the site don't work is the fact that this thread hadn't been posted in 3 years.
