Talking first time at track for 89 TURBO....time slips...tell me what you think.

Well, I finally got my first time at the track, I went down this time to PIR in portland....The track was pretty slippery,

Im only going to give you the timeslip of my best run ,

That's a pretty good time for your mods. If your motor is in good shape and you do some more mods(keeping the stock turbo) you should be able to see low 13's.

Your S-AFC can is considered a power though It has proven to add up to 7HP on certain cars. I know that you probably use it as a safety feature, but I'm just saying...Good job on the times! I will be racing mine in Phoenix this winter hopefully.

Actually RP put a TII on a dyno and added a S-AFC and got 32 more HP out of it.

Question help

thats interesting. maybe someone can help me out with tunning the afc..

I know everone says its for bigger injectors....but I just wanted something to be able to tune a little better....Im sure it helps even if you dont have bigger injectors...

On my air guage, it always reads way into the green when racing....should it be more torward like one orange and one green, or should I keep it all the way into green.... I cant tune it proffesionally, so I just have it bumped down about 2% from 5k on because its really running rich around that rpm range.....should I tune it down even more so its barely running into the green , or up???

woah

thats wierd, i hope to finish my exhaust and a cold air box, with manual boost controller, and I should have a very good chance of popping a high 13 sec with essentially the same mods you have

my engine is a jspec, however before it was put in, the whole motor was tore apart, inspected and replaced any wore out parts....mechanically, my car is brand spankin new, there isnt a part on it that has over 50 thousand miles on it...except for shocks and tranny/rearend....

I got on order a downpipe, and a boost controller, Im going to set it at 10-11 psi. I will have my cold air box done by then, and also get my super afc tuned.

I might actually get into the 13.9's with that. The intake and midpipe jumped my down .5 seconds from last......

i just got a 91 T2 with intake, ported wastegate (Stock turbo), downpipe, mid pipe, no cats, and RP catback...any ideas what that should run??? i don't have a boost guage so i'm not sure that psi its running, but probbably stock or less that stock since the wastegate is ported........mid 14 maybe? it feels fast as hell, but i'm used to driving an n/a

hmmm..

if your wastegate is ported and your not running that much boost, you might not be that fast? im not sure...

but if you buy a manual boost controller and boost gauge/ air/fuel and set that puppy to 9-10psi, with an FCD, you would be knockin on 13's door.

why do you think its a blown apex?
if you blew a apex for real the car would run like crap and idle very poorly
and would take alot of cranking for it to start
do the ATF trick
you could just have a flat spring
due to excessice carbon

Thumbs up allstyle....

With 104 mph trap you should be seeing some low to mid 13's with a GOOD launch. 2.367 is not so good :p Get you 60' times down to 1.8-2.0 and you'll see your ET's drop. A friend of mine ran consistent 1.9's with Dunlop d40 m2's (225/50/16's). Good luck!

Man...I was pulling 2.2 60 ft times in my n/a, with bald tires and a slipping clutch. I think I could pull a 2.0 now that I have that taken care of.

I was having problems in 2nd gear, way down on power. I cant explain it, but it went away a week or so after I took my car to the track. My best time of the night was 10.2 @ 68. I know my car should be pulling mid 9's at least now that its running good again.

Thanks guys

goodspeed:
Those times look good. You should get better times and more mph with a downpipe.

snoopster76:
How much boost are you running? If you're not running the same times as goodspeed you should be if not faster. What was your mph? Fess up what did ya run at the track??

As for the S-AFC. Where can I find 32 horsies? Is there an article on how RP got that? Did they tune them with larger injectors? I know my car is running really rich with my Gforce ECU and 720's. My S-AFC is tuned down in Hi Throttle 4k -16, 5k -19, 6k -19. I don't want to bring them down any further without going on a dyno with a wideband.
