nope, N/A = 6 port. Turbo is a 4 port with the ports being larger than that of the 6 port. The 6 port still has a larger sum of size when added together. 2 of the ports stay closed until like 4 or 5thuosand RPM to maintain low end torque at the trade of very small hp loss. At high RPM, it's all HP baby! (street port means that the port sizes are mildly increased for more power. It's not a terribly huge gain, but it helps substantially as well as improves throttle response.

no. but at least your doing your reading.
if you have an NA (non turbo) engine, in the FC series, its a 6 port. turbos are 4 port.
street port just means that the stock ports have been opened up a little more to allow more air flow.
go check this site, i love it, and it will show you the dynamics of how rotary engines work, and all the different port setups.

Thanks for the great link BLM, helped me understand porting way better.
Anyone care to explain to me how to determine whether my engine is really street ported or not? Is there any visual confirmation? My exhaust putput's more than it purrs and my idle fluctuates 500 and 1000 instead of staying steady at 750, should I take that as proof enough?

My entire reason for posting my annoyance is because with you and the other guy talking about the TII transmission it would mislead a new RX-7 owner. You didn't do it directly, but it was more of hinting towards it. I hate when I search and I find 95% bullshit like that instead of ever finding an answer, sorry that I seemed to want to take it out on you. Plus, with the spare driveshaft comment it hinted again you where trying to sell something, my misunderstanding.
Just so you know.
Thanks,
Christopher

Nice TII aero parts (the hood, spoiler, and mirrors are not stock). I love the s5 styling on a white car. A lip would set that front end off like crazy.
Also,(open question to anyone who wants to chime in) is that 5-lug setup stock? I thought non-GXL, TII, and GTUs had 4 lug with no LSD, or did all S5s have that?

Haha, I saw that "aggressive reply" of yours Jager, thanks for being protective of me
Just put a post up in the audio/exterior/interior section, that's where about $500 is going within two weeks, but I'm looking at racing beat exhausts right now. Would you guys recommend a full (catback?) exhaust setup or the little after-cat. addon thing that just include the Y pipe and the two mufflers?

I actually had an aggressive reply to all of this. But it's really not worth it.

Its all cool man, I’m not sure I would have told him to change the trans myself and agree that it may be a bit overkill for his situation and obviously dependent on what kind of power his car is producing. I certainly was not trying to mislead the new 7 owner in anyway. I was actually just throwing out a little hint in case he did take the advice of changing to a TII trans, I guess it might be a little known fact, since I see comments about it a lot, like I said AT driveshaft is direct bolt on for TII trans to NA diff, but folks always talk about custom driveshaft’s needing to be fab’ed etc…etc…
Why fix something that’s not broken of course. I think the 5th gear is more of a “granny gear” anyway I very rarely use it myself.

Take it easy on the thing while it breaks in... Keep in mind that although you shouldn't rev it too high while breking in, you also don't want to be lugging the engine by giving too much gas in too high a gear. You'll be able to tell by sound when you're working the engine too hard by lugging it. Don't give it more gas than it can take for a given engine speed. Once she's broken in, have fun.
Also, yes, I previously failed to remember you could use an Auto driveshaft between a turbo tranny and NA diff., but keep in mind the driveshaft is slightly shorter, although it hasn't been a problem for people who have used it.
BTW, 6-port not= to streetport. Streetporting is grinding the ports more open (very basic description, like getting bigger valves and changing valve timing). All FC NA's are 6-port. Essentially two additional ports open up at higher RPM. See 6PI in the FSM.

Quick question, how much more power does porting a 6 port give? Enough to warrent TII trans?

You really can't go wrong with Racing Beat. For the most gains get their full system (Collected header, presilencer, and y-pipe and mufflers).
It's a good system that'll be relatively quiet. I ended up going through various setups with my NA before I went with the Racing Beat collected header, presilencer, and Borla cat-back, my other setups where just too loud.

Doesn't make enough torque to really need a TII transmission. Alot of guys even get away with a NA transmission on TII swaps and they make significantly more torque.
