First RX-7 - NEED HELP -

First of all i already searched and that didn't help me much. So my question is if the 5th and 6th prots aren't opening up at 3.5-3.8k how much of a power loss would you get. Would you be able to tell when they opened (like V-tec on honda/acura, when V-tec kicks in, you know it, at least on most honda/acura). I was just wondering b/c the guy that sold it to me said this is the slowest RX-7 he as ever driven but it is a 90 GTU so aren't those supposed to be one of the fastest N/A's. If you could help me out that would be great. I'm thinking that the prots sticking is the problem but if you have any other ideas of what it might be let me know please.

First of all, how do you know they're not opening? You'd be able to tell when they open. You'll feel a slight push back in the seat above 4K RPM.

If you just bought the car, do the regular maintenance stuff first. Many things can rob horsepower... cats, air filter, fuel filter, old plugs, old plug wires, vacuum hose leak.. the list goes on.

After you've done all that, look at the cats. If they're original stock, chances are they're clogged. Replace with a good aftermarket unit. Then worry about your aux ports.
