Finally!! WooHoo!!
o.k... im just glad to say that i successfully removed the OMP from my brothers dead 90 GTUs...which at the moment is my parts car while he is away on vacation. hehe it took me almost 4 hours and a lot of scratches and blood to remove it.
my question to you all, is that i am going to use this in my 89 Vert and was wondering if i can just swap out the part that is removable from the main unit? my 89 Vert OMP seems to be malfunctioning but i dont think it is broken. would it be possible to just try swapping the detatchable unit to see if i still get errors? or should i just remove the whole damn thing from my vert *shigh* and swap in the other one?
there is the main body which has electrical wires running through it as well as the oil lines connected to it.
then there is the other piece that also has wires running through it but is secured to the main piece by phillip screws i think. help please.
Fred

Take both of them completely apart. I'm not sure why you had such a hard time getting it off; there are only three bolts. Anyhow, the black motor and little black sensor are the parts that can trip the "limp home" mode so one of those is bad on your old OMP. I suggest using both of the electrical parts off of the donor car (GTUs). Then take aprt both OMPs and clean them up real good and determine which parts are in the best condidtion. There are only a few parts inside and it is preaty easy to put back together. But don't loose any parts. After you have it cleaned up real good and put back together your troubles will be over.
