a few strange questions about my "s5 TII" reman... experts needed

preface: i bought an atkins s5TII reman through shane at rotaryworks. i went to autozone today to buy a new coolant temp sensor (the one up by the oil press. sending unit) and the rear iron actually had a series4 sensor where there SHOULD be one from a series5... the differences between the s4 and s5 sensor are that the s4 one is smaller with smaller threads and a different plug. i also noticed that the flywheel on the reman seems a little bit thicker that my blown engine... i know that all series4's have thicker heavier flywheels so i am thinking that i could possibly have bought an s4TII reman'd shortblock when i was told it was a series5... so what i need to know is:

1. are there any visual differences between the s4TII and s5TII shortblocks?

2. i noticed that on my blown s5TII jspec engine it has a coolant passage above BOTH exhaust ports that goes into the LIM where this reman block only has one above ONE of the exhaust ports... could this be a problem?

3. my s5 TII OMP bolted onto the reman front cover fine. the front cover has 3 bolt holes instead of 2 like the series4TII front cover... this is what has confused me greatly. maybe i have a s4TIi block with an s5TII front cover?

4. could this be a series4TII block? if so, can i use it with all of my s5 TII electronics, manifolds, etc. since my stuff is supposed to run the 9:1 rotors?

sonikrat thinks that they rebuilt it for use in an S4TII but used the S5TII rotors/housings to raise the compression. but that wouldnt explain the s5 front cover..

could it be a s5 motor that has s4 rotors/s4TII flywheel/s4TII counterweight to drop the compression?

you guys cant figure this out?

um its an s4 motor with an s5 front cover? you need to look at the rotors, or flywheel to see if they are s4 or s5.

the rotors are s5, the front cover is s5, the rear iron is s4, the flywheel is s4... why would this engine have a s4 rear iron and s4 flywheel on it? can i still use it in my s5?

s4 flywheel doesn't mix with s5 rotors does it?

The S4's knock sensor is on front side of the center plate at the base of the oil filler neck. The S5's knock sensor is on the front rotor housing above the trailing spark plug.

if you have the s4 counterweight with the s4 flywheel i believe it works.

jason please feel free to correct me here.

The counterweight is part of the flywheel casting, not a seperate part like on autos, so I don't think that's right. AFAIK the flywheel must match the rotors.

thats right, s4 flywheel wont work with s5 rotors. how do you know they are s5 rotors?
