On aluminum hoods the latch is riveted on, on steel it's welded.

As far as the fenders go, I'm sure they're different. Its subtle, but I had my s4 n/a parked next to my s5 TII for awhile before I sold it. The s5 seems to flare out more, but it could be an optical illusion, as mentioned previously.

i have yet to see a difference in fender flairness when comparing S4 to S5. There is some sort of placebo effect sometimes, and also the other aesthetics make it LOOK like they are wider than others... like Side skirts, width of the tires, the pattern/dish of the wheels, altitude/ride height...

oh and the aluminum hoods have rivits on it but the steelies dont...thats the first noticible thing besides the obvious weight difference.

IIRC, the S4 "Sport" (base) Model, the TII and GTUs all had aluminum hoods... there are obviously a few odd ***** here and there, like a steel hood on a TII or aluminum hood on a Base model... but, that seems to be the general consensus

I voted same.

I recall seeing in an issue of OPTION, or OPTION 2 magazine from Japan, descirbing in details, the differences between generations of cars. One was between the S4 and S5 RX7. They circled each part that was different, and the fenders were NOT circled.

So unless the body of the J-Spec RX7s were different, I think it's save to say that it is the same. Now keep in mind, ALL FCs in Japan are turbo, so I'm not sure about any differences between turbo and NA.

Other cars were compared too, EG. GTO (3000GT), SILVIAS (S13, S14), MR2 (SW20), ETC.

I will try to find the mag and scan it in to show, although I have to figure out how to post pics first, hahaha...

My 87 has one S4 fender and one S5 fender, other than the side molding being different they are the same. At first I thought they were different, but the retard that I bought the car off of didn't put it on correctly..
