Unhappy fed up with this car

WELL i have this 1989 gxl bought it with a blown engine. i got another engine.. a 87 t2 engine with 47000 on it for a good price. i have a friend who says with some rewiring i can make it work. well im beginning to think my friend is smoking something. ive looked at the wiring harness schematics for an 88 t2 and my 89 gxl.... i thought that the ecus were the same just with different plugs and wires... GUESS NOT.... some of the stuff matches up while the rest is a bunch of confusion..i guess i was wrong for trying to do this.. the guy ive been talking to says that he has convert 5 89-91 into 87 t2 ...
now that i have about 1400 bucks in this id just like to think i can get somewhere.. should i try to run an 89 t2 harness and ground the Electric Oil pump so the car thinks its an 89. or SELL THE CAR FOR PARTS AND THE ENGINE TOO. <----gxlbiscuit's dumbass

Yes, this is a very involved project.&nbsp I don't know how competent your mechanic is with his claims, but it involves at LEAST replacing the engine, drivetrain (unless you want broken parts), engine harness and ECU.

You could go with a 1989-1991 Kouki FC turbo engine harness and ECU, but those are very rare, and you'd be lucky to get them at a fair price.

goofed

well a swap is easy if you do a swap from the same year 89-91 gxl to 89-91 t2 but the 87 border line is part of the problem
