Question FD torsen diff in TII?

Well, I bought the FD TORSEN diffy that I have been looking for, for a while now. And I have asked this question before, but never got a straight answer. So I'll ask again.

Will a TII's half shafts fir into the FD TORSEN diff, or do I have to get FD half shafts?

Also can I used the 3.9 ring gear with the stock TII pinion gear, or do I have to use my stock TII ring and pinion gear. The reason that I ask is because the pinion gear of the FD is made to the input shaft of the diff, so I can't use it, and I would like to have the 3.9 gear ration.

Your half shafts will work. FYI a S4 T2 rear end is stronger then the FD rear.

Thats why most guys who do V8 swaps usually leave the TII diff back there, it can take the power of the all-mighty rotary..... I mean American torque.

But I'm putting a 7MGTE in my car.

And it has 130,000 miles on it, so I would think it is comeing kind of close to wearing out.

If it means anything, I have 150,000 miles on my stock rear with 405 at the wheels with no prolbems at all.

no the S5 T2 is the strongest. It is a viscous diff... it won't break.

Well i'm sure if someone tried hard enough and had enough HP anything woudl break.

You can break a viscous diff. They just dont wear out from use.

The only reson I want to do it is, because I think that the TORSEN is better that the clutch pack.

if you already bought it you may as well use it. a friend of a friend of mine has gone through 2 clutch diffs on his FC already and switched to a torsen. i'm not sure how the torsen has held up though, i haven't heard from him in awhile, but the torsens are prefered by all them japanese dorifto guys for the instant lockup and no wear (unless you break them). he does weekend drift events regularly though and has been for some time.

Yeah, I already bought it for $200.

And I just thought that it was way better than the clutch type. I guess I'll do some searching on that right now.

Everyone Ive talked to has preferred the clutch LSD in an RX7, as far as driving impressions go. Ive read that the torsen is better in miatas for autocross, and very tight corners, but the clutch types are preferred for everything else.

FYI, the torsen is normally unlocked, while the clutch is normally locked.

I read on a page discussing diferentials that the torsen has less power loss due to the fact that they are normally unlocked.

Then an open differential would have the least power loss, but I dont see everyone running out to get one to get that extra 1/2hp to the ground...

dude...don't you know that everyone who bought an S4 base or an S5 GTU/GXL did so for the power gains to be had through the Open Diff? with the massive power being robbed by the LSD's in the other cars its amazing the turbo cars sold at all.
