FD owner needs some help with an FC!!
alright well my friend bought a FC about a month ago as a project car, not planning on working on till my fd was back on the road and we finish our 69 camaro project. well he wrecked his 03 lancer last weekend so were now trying to get the fc up and running. already fixed a couple things that were screwed up. the car came without a guage cluster and the trim that went around it. we picked one up a couple days ago so we could make sure that everything was hooked up. well today i just noticed that the 80amp fuse was also blown, so we replaced that. theres something wrong with the key ignition cause i cant crank the engine from the key. i used a jumperwire and ran it from the wire going to the solenoid for the starter and when i see if i can get it to turn over i just touch the other end of it to the battery. well as of right now all i can do is get it to crank. my next thoughts were spark, so we got some brand new NGKs and when i went to replace them i noticed that the last person to put plugs in really screwed up. the front rotor had a trailing plug at top and leading at the bottom(that was the only thing that was right), connected to those plugs for the front rotor was the L2 wire on the trailing plug, and and the T1 on the leading plug, and on second rotor it had a leading plug at the top with the T2 wire on it and a trailing plug at the bottom with the L1 wire on it. so after fixing that whole mess and double checking everything i tried cranking again, to make sure that there was actually spark getting to the plug i tool off one leading wire and held it in my hand(yea im very smart, haha) and cranked it and OYEA its definitely got spark and did the same with one trailing wire. so its definitely got spark. there is gas in it, the next thing i need to check is to see if the fuel pump is getting power, thats what im about to go do and check to make sure there is fuel getting to where it needs to go. well thats the situation at this point. i am used to working on an FD and dont know too much about the FC. could definitely use some help, thanks ryan

good point, that is something i need to look into. because thats the next problem right now. the fuel pump isnt getting any power or its bad. i pulled the lines off of it and the line going to the engine and the return line are completely dry, and theres a **** load of gas in tank. i just need now to find out if the pump itself is defective or if its just not getting power. also noticed that the connector for the pump is gone and has been replaced by electric tape by a pervious owner so that might also might have something to do with it considering how screwed up the plugs and wires were. also is there anywhere i can get my hands on for free somewhere on the web a copy of the mazda service manual for the car. i know theres a couple sites that have the entire service manual for my 93, id really like to know where i can get that cause the haynes manual i have SUCKS! thanks guys

Check the blue wire to ground (on the chassis harness side) near the left rear strut tower for 12v when cranking (or with the yellow check connector jumpered near the AFM, key on). That should tell you if the pump's getting power or not...
TEAMFC3S.ORG is a good place for the online manuals...
If she's been sitting a while you may need to pull the pump and clean the inlet filter sock...

thanks for the help. i really dont know how long shes been sitting but the filter at the bottom of the pump looked fine. like i said its either the pump itself is defective or its not getting power. is there any way to test the pump for operation while out of the tank by jumping 12volts to it???
