FD intake manifold
#5
Primary runners are smaller and longer than any TII manifold! More velocity for low end.
2ndary runners are same size as '89+ TII (~1mm larger than '87-88 TII).
It has a very straight intake path so it can be completely ported and polished w/ only an extension on your die grinder. This means it can have larger (and polished) runners w/ fairly little work.
The TB is larger than any TII.

This is not the sort of mod that's worth contemplating unless you have serious upgrades planned (the stock UIM is fine for mild mods so the benifit is minimal) and have the time to put into the conversion. You also need to find solutions for the incompatible TPS and (for S4's) the lack of OMP linkage. Neither are huge problems but you do need to consider them.

So would it be worth comtemplating if I was gettin a rebuild with streetport, FMIC, and a T04? And how have people solved the TPS problem?
Since you will have to run a Haltech (or similar stand alone ECU) w/ the above mods-
the TPS would be a minor issue.
What it boils down to is how much do you enjoy fabricating items for your car? I love it, and this was the perfect opportunity to tinker.
If you are thinking from a HP perspective, there are SOOO many little mods that you can do to raise HP that no one bothers w/ because they aren't bolt on or its easier to just raise boost a little more.
Put this mod in the above catagory- it CAN give you more HP if done right and it can decrease your HP if done wrong.

All you really need is and fd lower oil filler tube on the min side. You can get the fd tb to work with the s5 ecu I believe. I'm using a haltech e6x for mine. You either have to match the runners by proting and ovalize the mounting holes; the runners end up pretty thin if you do it that way, or there is an adapter plate availabe to make it easier. Check out this link.
