FD Guy With Stupid Question
I am lookin at purchasing a 1990 and was wondering how hard it would be to put a single turbo on it. I have a Garret I could put on it, but honestly dont know much about doing that to an FC. Sorry for the dumb question.

...94% correct.

An FC is already a single turbo car. First thing to realize is that manifolds for a TII and an FD are almost the same...close enough to work. That's if you're using a setup you previously had in an FD. Otherwise it would be better to adapt the turbo to the stock TII manifold...I am assuming that you're wanting to use a TII RX7 and not an NA. Basically if you know how to do that stuff to your FD then you can do it to an FC3S. There are no dumb questions...only ********.

an NA will require quite a bit of work in adating the turbo to the block, stand-alone will be necessary, bassically once you get the car you'll have strip it of all engine bay stuff except the block and start putting stuff back in after it's been modified to work with the turbo. Also, the comp is much higher on the na which will force you to run low boost settings and that will limit both the life of the engine and the highest obtainable performance. There are so many things involved in this that we couldn't fully prepare you for what you'll need. The biggest problem with doing this to an NA is that it will all have to be done at once...where as starting with a TII you might get lucky enough that you'll just have to adapt the turbo to the exhaust manifold or it may even turn out plug-n-play...then you can add as you want.

Ya, what he said. If you are wanting to go with a bigger turbo, you are best to start off with a car that came turbo stock. Turbo'ing an NA is alot of work, and IMO not worth it.
