FD fuel pump for the FC question

Did the usual search (fuel+pump+upgrade) and went through 4 pages and didn't really find an answer to my upcoming question so a little help would be appreciated.

I remember reading, either here or on the old e-mail big list in the by gone years, that when people would install the FD fuel pump into the TII FC's that some felt that the increased fuel that the FD pump flows can cause a rich idle, needing a SAFC or something to tune it at idle. Am I remembering it wrong? I trying to finish up some car projects and the TII I have is one of them. I don't have my SAFC wired in to see yet, just curious about the FD pump question and people who did the switch's experience.

Thanks,
Tim

Mine runs and idles fine with a FD pump and no Safc. You can drop one in and not have to worry about idle problems or rich

The fuel pump you are thinking of is the Walbro 255. It flows much more fuel than the FD pump and over runs the stock FPR causing a rich idle. The FD pump flows around 210 lph vs the stock fuel pump's 190 lph. So, you can drop in an FD pump with no fear of a rich idle while still having more fuel at WOT if you have basic mods.

The stock FD fuel pump offers very little additional capacity versus a stock FC turbo fuel pump.
It's almost not worth to go through all that trouble.

A rewire is worth more in gains.

The stock FD fuel pump is maybe 10% - 20% more capacity.

For the price of a Walbro 255lph, the Walbro is a bargain.

Thanks for the replies guys. Ted's site was one I went to first to see if it was on there so I guess I was wrongly recalling the discussion about the walbro unit and not the FD one.
