fc3s turbo II buying questions..??
Hi..pplez....well i'm thinking about buying this fc turbo 87 model....that is for sell at a dealership near my house.. and i got a few questions.. it is being sold for 2500... and today I had test drove it and I was wondering while i was shifting the car....from 1st gear to second...it would feel lyke something is blocking it...?? is that suppose to happen??...it dosent feel smooth..? and another thing....the car had a gauge in the dash right above the boost gauge....I think it was a oil pressure or oill temp....?? idunno which one it was?? do anybody know?? well that gauge was near zero when i test drove it?? is it suppose to be at zero???o....when the salesman started the car, he went to the hatch to look at the licesen, then about 5 sec later, it shut off by itself. what is that?? during that time the car was in a pretty warm temperature.... (I live in louisana) so i dont think it wasn't a cold start??? WAHT IS THAT/???/ well thanks everybody ....o....do anybody have any more suggestions on what i should look for...because i will go try the car out again lyke friday....??

hmm, well to answer the shift question...it should be smooth for the most part. granted, it IS 15 year old car...so its not gonna be like butter...but it should shift in there without too much effort. was it hard to shift when going thru the gears when you were stopped? liek if you were sitting in the parking lot with the clutch in and just moving the shifter to find the gears?
the gauge above teh boost should be the oil pressure gauge...and if it was close to 0 while you were driving it, i wouldn't think thats good. in my FC's...when i'm cruising the needle is at 60 and at idle is above 30. so if its at 0, i don't think thats good!
i dunno what the deal is with it shutting off right away...if it had been sitting for a while maybe it just cut off for a second because it wasn't used to running...
how was the idle?
did it smoke at start up? or while driving?
did you try starting it after you had cruised and let it sit for a little bit?
any hesitation in the rpm range?
how many miles?

no...hesitation....no smoke....the idle was around 1000...and it has 102 thousand miles.....and no i didnt restart it after test driving it....
when i was in the car at park and the engine was off....i fooled around with the shifting.... 1 didnt stay in place...i pushed it all the way in and when i let go ...it would shift back a little bit...but not too much towards neutral...and when i shift to 2nd it would feel awkward lyke sumting it blocking it...den it would go in....and 3rd, 4th, 5th and reverse wasn't used much so i dont really know??

shift bushings,
should not die without you turning the key off
Oil pressure should be at least 30, peferably 60 when warm and engine speed is above 2500.
You need to have the car checked out... I wouldn't trust it by what you post.
