FC Steering sensor drama's

Hi everyone! I'm trying to fit an aftermarket steering wheel to my FC, and the boss kit has pushed in the 'auto indicator return' flange and damaged it. I'm getting the five continuos beeps from the sensor. Is there any way to remove the flange and stop the beeping? I will gladly sacrifice 'auto indicator return' just so I can have my car back! Any Idea's people? Bob the car-less.

if you miss-installed the steering wheel adapter (the two little holes in the back are for just that reason), you may be able to re-align the steering wheel adpater, but if you cranked it down too far, then you need to replace the position sensor or at very least the alignment bushing.

The position sensor is used by the power steering and the turn signals, not just the turn signals.

Thanks for the reply Icemark. I made sure the two little holes were lined up prior to fitting, but I did notice the clearance for the two nodes at the back of the adaptor, weren't deep enough to take the nodes fully. As far as disassembling the area where the position sensor is, is there anything special I should take note of, when attempting to pull it all apart? Thanks, Bob

if you got a FD adapter instead of a FC adapter, it could have that problem.

In that case, remove the wheel and adapter, and grind down the height of the position sensor bushing about 1/4 inch, and the two little tabs on it also down about 1/4 inch.

Then re-install the wheel and adapter.

Tanks Icemark, I was sus about the boss kit they supplied me, but after I e-mailed the manufacturer, they assured me I had the correct part, even though they never eye-balled it! I'll give it another go, thanks again, Bob

They may not know that the FC and FD/NA/NB use a different mount, and only stock one part for all 4 models.

I was told the BOSS hub does not work with the steering position sensor on an FC?

Sounds like we now know why... sits too close (like a FD wheel would)
