hi everyone

ok, this is a problem that happens seldomly and randomly, and i cant put a finger on it..

some quick background information:
1986 series 4 rx7
13b extend port
microtech LTX8
bosch ignition coils
FD alternator with 100a circuit breaker
battery in the boot with kill switch in engine bay
0/0 gauge wire for main power, alternator and starter motor w/ 200a fuse

problem:
as mentioned above, the problem is seldom and random.
an example of what happens is probably the best to explain it, so..
when car is warm enough to drive, nanny it down my street of no more than 200m and power/IGN dies (no shudder, no warning signs like lack of fuel). my microtech turns OFF, stereo turns off, fuel pump etc (basically everything on "ACC/IGN" turns off) its instant.
my power windows work though as they are wired straight to the battery (dont need key to operate them - so this rules out the 80a main power fused in the engine bay)

i turn the key off, take it out and try to start it.. but my microtech still doesnt come on. neither does stereo etc.
after a while though, it will randomly turn on (obviously me trying to turn it on)
my microtech also flickers (doesnt turn on) and makes a tapping noise when this occurs. i just turn my car off and pull my kill switch

not sure if this is the right diagnoses, but i have come down to:
a. faulty microtech (but why does my stereo die?)
b. faulty ignition barrel (makes sense that all my ACC/IGN die)
c. wires from kill switch to ignition barrel (as 'b')
d. some little frkn gremlin inside my electrics just pissing me off for the fun of it

any ideas?? where should i start looking?
checked fuses
checked main power connections
checked alternator/starter
checked battery and voltage
