FC finally down for the count
My roommate just got a cool Lipstick camera so we taped it to my front bumper for a fun test.
and.....
I caught my motors last moments on film.
http://video.google.com/videoplay?do...44951925031853
Around 8:48 you hear a high pitch squeal which I think is the motor letting loose.
This was a daily driven S4 turbo block. Rebuilt by Rotary resurrection. It's lasted 53,000 miles.
I'm pretty sure there is scoring in the housing after the last few seconds of the video. That's not a happy sound.
Well guys.
Enjoy my Cars last moments!

I checked compression last night via ear.
I got a WOOSH WOOSH woosh out of the front if I'm right.
I will probably go Streetported next time and either Rtek 2.0 with a GOOD clean harness or Haltech. Won't be for a while though since I have to try and buy a daily driver now.
Here are some it's pics.

It's AIT S4 front bumper.
Yeah I did use my turn signals always do
Yeah I'm thinking sideseal as well. I pulled a front leading plug and found a thin metallic looking sliver which may be a flake from a seal or something
Already pulled it down to almost bare block. Just need to remove the turbo,DP, and LIM.

This is my 3rd motor.
Yeah the car never ran perfect. I chalk it up to a bad alternator and bad wiring. I had to rewire a lot of that harness so there are multiple variables in it.
In the weeks prior I had weird ignition problems. It would either stutter and boost high or run half asses and boost low.
I think my long term plan will be.
--Streetport S4 block
--BNR Stage 2 or 3 (looking for about 250-300 rwhp range
--Upgrade to 3inch exhaust(DP and silencer currently 2.5)
--720's or what ever secondaries are required for the HP I'm aiming for.
--FMIC
--Haltech // or Rtek 2.0
WHat sucks is if Sevenstock does show up this year I doubt I'll be ready to drive it out there.

Whoa... That last part of the video sucked, lol.
To put it into context though, you could scrape together a rebuild for $500+ and be on the road in a week or so. It's really just a small bump in the road when the engine blows. And 50k+ miles is really good for a rebuild with (I assume) used housings.
It's suprising how many people take what you've just experienced as a reason to whine and cry about how they're a victim of the rotary engine... lol. I commend you for staying true to the rotary within!
Good luck with getting her back together, modified and running smoothly... Hopefully soon.

what really sucks is that you manage to open the garage door and stop before you enter it. also at around 7 minutes 20 seconds till end you hear like a "breathing", several hissing sounds then like a puff kinda noise. Like:
seeeeeeiiiiiiiieeesssssssshhhh pooooooooghhhh seeeeeeiiiiiiiieeessssshhh..... etc.
Good luck with the rebuild maybe you can find out what went wrong.
also you said sometimes it was screwy and ran boost too high, I bet that lowered engine life on highboost days.

wasn't running too high. I had an MBC set to 10psi.
It was only pushing around 7psi a few weeks ago but heat may have had somethign to do with that. Not sure.
Yeah I knew it was coming.
This engine was a core only Jspec engine. The rotors and irons were trashed from coolant/rust/**** sitting for a long time.
THe housiongs were the only part I think we kept internally.
I know I could get this car running again in a weeks time but I need a back up/daily driver.
No AC in AZ when it's 110+ outside is crazy and I've been doing it for 3+years.
A full set of tools in my car, backup parts, and a fire extinguisher shoudl not be the norm for a DD.
Oh well. Now it gets to become a beast instead of moderately fast DD.
