Fan Clutch servicing
Hey guys,
I was organizing parts in the garage today so I could get back at fiddling with the car, and I know I need to service or get a new fan clutch, S5 TII. A new one is pretty pricey. The clutch I have has lost some oil out of the rear seal that spins on the water pump shaft. It should be an easy enough seal to replace, pretty sure the seal itself is a stock part. What I am wondering is if any of you have managed to separate one of these, or have a junk one that could be used as a guinea pig. I don't believe, nor is it likely to be threaded. There is a seam that runs around the back side. It is likely either pressed or sealant glued/rtv'd together. If it is glued to where a little heat would separate it, that would be pretty easy to deal with.
Again, I fully understand that these are not intended to be a serviceable part, but I have serviced a lot of things on this car that are supposed to be left alone as well...
If you guys have some info, I'd be glad to have it. Thanks
