fahrenheit 451!!!
At least it didn't take the car or the gas tank or anything important with it. I just got done installing a recently bought and supposedly rebuilt 87' gxl engine in my 88' gtu. Five minutes later and 6500 rpms higher I saw flames spitting out the top of my hoodless seven. Luckily it was a localized fire and took a few fuel lines and the engine wiring harness. Not exactly sure what started the fire . It might have been a loose fuel line, but I thought I checked everything at least twice. Do any of you have any ideas of what might have started it.

Possibly your Pulastion Dampener. On S4 cars they are notorious for going out and leaking, causing fires. Do a search to find out more. Sorry to hear about your loss, if you need a new harness of lines let me know, ive got some laying around.

And it is not just a problem on series 4 cars, the series 5 and 6 cars have the simular problem, just a slightly different design for the PD.

I found a VERY long thread in the 2nd Gen archives section. ALL 2nd Gen owners should read it and live by it!
Having a fire on your engine / in yor engine bay is really not cool
