Factory S5 fog lights - What's the trick?
I am putting the S5 fog lights onto my S5 GXL. I can not seem to get them to work. I thought I read somewhere that they only come on under certain conditions? Here is where I'm at...
When I flip the switch, I hear the relay in the front of the car click.
I have tried multiple switches.
When I put 12V directly to the lights, they come on.
The fuse in the cabin is good.
Any other ideas? I am using all factory wiring/electronics. Thanks.

the low beam relay powers the fog light relay, which is a little lame, cause its hard to get around that if say you wanted the fog lights to be on with the parking lights...
unless you're in canada, then its much easier

Try a new relay? If you hear it click, that means the internal coil works. Perhaps the output power wire is bad?
eff it... just wire the switch direct to ground out the relay. Don't bother with stock wiring unless you have OCD like me. I FINALLY got the stock horn wiring working.

i will see if maybe the brights were on when i was testing. i am trying to keep this circuit stock if possible.
if i did hard wire it, what is the easiest way without having to run wires from the switch out the firewall?

Finally got some time to double check. Turn out 42-4-212 agrees with you, I must have been remembering from one of the other state I've lived in. They may be used in conjunction with low beams, for a total of four lights on max (42-4-219) however it does require that they be between 12 and 30 inches off of the road surface when measured from the ground to the center of the light. The fogs on my stock height S5 are right at 12" off the ground, so lowering the vehicle will make the fog lights illegally too low.

I'm sure that height rule is primarily meant to keep the auxillary lights below 30 inch's to avoid blinding other drivers. Lights below 12 inch's would only both snails, snakes, worms, and other Honda drivers.

^ that's what I did. I have a 91 ( didn't come wit fogs at all) and I took the fogs off my 90 and just straight tap'd them into my headlights. So when ever i turn on the headlights my fogs are on. Or just do it the cheapo way. Tape some flashlights where the fog lights go, when you want fog lights, get out of the car, flip the switch on each flash light and BAM! Fog lights! Lol jp.

^ Thus if you turn your brights on, your foglights turn off.
