Fabricating an intake manifold

Well here is the story.....I am in several metal fabrcating classes and we need to find a project to do. I got to thinking and I thought that I should try to make something useful for my car. I decided to make an intake manifold for my 4-port turbo. I am still in the drawing process and I think I am going to make it out of aluminum that is tig welded together. I am also thinking on making larger diameter intake runners and probably a little longer runners also. My teacher told me that this wouldnt be a first, one of his past students made an intake manifold for 5.0 and it worked pretty good. So does anybody have any type of suggestions? Remember though, one of the reasons I am doing this is for a school project and just see what I can do. Thanks

If you plan on driving the car on the street, you should probably stick close to the stock manifold design. Just build it smoother and lighter. Look at plenum designs. Keep the runners close to stock size as the manifolds are tuned to work together, and unless you've done some radical porting, you won't really find any gains that don't negativly effect another part of the power band (though isn't that always the way...).

I'm currently building a plenum for my engine with extremely short runners....but then I'm bridgeported and big turbo.

When I go for it and make an intake I think that I will make it simple with just the eccentials. I think I will also try making one for an n/a because I have lots of time to do this and I will just try it for fun.

I got the intake you want RedRicer already made! I also actually did it in class and upgraded it after so I dont mean to be rude but i cant just offer you the blueprints yet I can help you still with the design if your still interested...What turbo are you running also the Exhaust and Intake play together like Peanut Butter and Jelly, so its important to build it right from the gecko

I'm interested in knowing what sort of materials you used, fahqV8's. Mainly thickness of the metal in the plenum, flanges, etc. I assume this is aluminum?
Thanks,
Owen
