Exhaust Sounds....
Ok, i wanna get a nice low tone, but i'm a car n00b, so if anything i say sounds dumb, just ignore it and help me, lol. Anyways, to start out with, all i'm looking for is a good sound, a little extra performance would be nice, but not necessary as this will only be something to start out with...basically i want a nice low note, lots of bass, but not too loud, but a nice hum to it so it'll be noticble, but not loud enough that it'll make sleeping people hate me, heh. I also want something thats not going to look HUGE coming out the back of my car (which will hopefully be a 89' turbo II, so i'm guessing i need stuff for both sides). A little big is fine, but nothing huge and ricey looking. Thanks for the help.

Maybe something like my cheapo system.
Mazdatrix header kit, to duel silencers, using some of the origonal pipe & flanges, to duel bombs, to the stock tips.
The whole deal was welded up by a rural muffler shop.
Parts & labor <$300.
Pictures & sound bite are in my sig below.

What exactly do tips do? Are they just for looks, or can they get louder sounds out of them? I'm trying to look for the least amount of parts as possible and get what i'm looking for, the less labor, the better.

I just looked at some cat-back stuff, and they seem to be a little bit expensive for me, i would much rather get a cheaper option, and just spend the money on the audio, i'm not looking for extra power until i can get the money for it, i dont mind if its too loud, but does anyone know of something that is not too huge on the back of the car that i could buy that has a nice low rumble to it?

You should just save your money and get a exhaust.
People are always selling their exhaust systems so if you get lucky, there will be one near you.
People buy exhaust system to let the engine breathe easier not just for sound. If you don't care about performance just go buy a couple S/S mufflers and have your friend weld it on. Can't be cheaper than that.

Well I would much rather have performance, but money is definately a huge issue right now. I'm not going for any performance parts until I can get myself a job to start affording any real upgrades, so this would just be temporary

If it ain't broke don't fix it. I mean if the exhaust on your future TII is good you should have no problems. Just save and don't get any temp exhaust. I don't see the justification to spend 300 dollars on sound alone or looks. I would rather save up and get a full exhaust with fuel and boost controler

wait for your paychecks to start coming in and then do some mods... don't do half assed or cheapo mods that you're not sure will work out the way you want to. it's not cheap if you buy the cheap system, wear it out and buy a newer better system afterwards...
