Exhaust Issues, specifically the two precats

Ok, the typical FC exhaust goes:

Now, mine is the 88 so it has 2 precats, but it has no main cat, instead there is a resonator there. After the resonator is a y-pipe with some high flow muffs with big *** tips.

The last time I had my exhaust leaks fixed it had a very quiet yet very deep tone at idle. It maintained the deep tone until around 4k rpms until it gained the more rotary-like high whine. Now, the precats are rusting out and have holes in them and they are causing a lot of extra unnecessary noise. I would like to remedy this but I really don't want to fork out the money for a header/presilencer kit because I don't plan on having the car much more than 6 months (it's my first car and I've had it for almost 5 years now). Also I have heard some videos of FC's with header/presilencers and I honestly didn't like the sound they had. It was way too lawnmower-ish while like I said earlier mine has a very low tone. Of course now it sounds more like a lawnmower because of the leaks.

What are my options for fixing this? I'd like to quiet the car down to at least being a sealed exhaust so the noise stays back behind the car like it used to be. Can I just seal up these precats with a shitload of epoxy or something like that?

Feel free to post some vids or audio of exhaust systems, because if I have to I will buy something as long as it doesn't get any louder.

Sounds like you just need to find someone selling their factory cats, or get a replacement cat welded into place.

The racing beat down pipe/presilencer is around 280... If thats too much, then i would suggest a BONEZ race pipe for about $180... I hade one on my GTU, it connects to the termactor and to the y-pipe, eleminates everything in between. It isn't as loud as a header system cause it leaves the stock termactor in place, and it has a presilencer built into it. Keeps a low tone, but it does get loud, but it definately does not sound shitty like a lawnmower!!!

I second the Bonez race pipe. I have one on my car as well. Decent tone, but not loud enough to attract unwanted attention.
