This airpump supercharger was posted on another forum. Supposedly it works. I wont believe it until I see dyno numbers with and without the airpump supercharger.

The sad part isn't that someone thought of it. (Hell everybody has) The sad part isn't that somebody tried it. The sad part is that somebody tried it and claimed that it made a difference.

Not only to air pumps not move enough volume, but they make shitty compressors as well, so even if it was big enough to move enough air it would just bypass internally as soon as you had backpressure on it.

For what it's worth, the air pump DOES pump into the intake under certain conditions.

i dont think i was expecting the thing to be like adding a turbo, but it does make sense that it would force some more air into the intake, which is never a bad thing

Take the air pump and route it to the intake and with the stock air pump you get this super ram air set up that is good for 10-15 hp on a mustang. You can take the pully and put a huge one on there and you get up to 5psi boost like you would from turbo or a supercarger, except that you didn't spend any money on it...
Yea w/ a ten foot in diameter pulley sure it could do something...
...I might just get a ford one and "make" it compatable with the rex.
Might even do a how to for thoughs who can't aford a turbo or supercharger.
...but it does make sense that it would force some more air into the intake...
The lack of basic engineering understanding here is just astounding...

Hey I know, why not just route the exhaust into the intake? That way you get mad boost!

wow no need for everyone to be haters here, just let the guy try it and let us know what happens. id rather have the guy try and fail than just get get disheartened with all you guys bashing him and not try at all.

you guys are ruining someones enthusiasm to give the 7 an advantage.

quit hating and wait and see.

I still have my airpump to work the s5's 6-ports & VDI. Like some have said, it makes fairly high pressure but fairly low volume. I suppose if you had maybe a 10-20 cubic foot accumulator tank, you could dump enough volume for 3-4 seconds of boost. You might get a 1% duty cycle?

In the years that Ive been here, I dont know if I have everr seen something this stupid. It seems like something pea brained idea brewed up from the fast and the furious or something.

What hating? Common ******* sense dictates that an airpump moves nowhere near enough CFM to make a noticeable difference. I equate it to pissing in the river to raise the water level.

i wish some of you people would at least show some courtesy to others on the forum. if some guys just a jackass to start with i wouldnt care, but people that just bash and insult instead of explaining why its not feasible in an engineering sense, in a polite and respectful manner just look like fools.

the guy had an idea that probably wont work, and he explained it in a polite manner and bashed no one. give the guy a fuking break and at least be polite in your responses.

sorry for snapping but that type of attitude just pisses me off.

some poeple need to grow up.

This is the stupidest ****** idea i have ever even heard of!! I mean c'mon!! What, does this kid have like a 7th grade education or what here?? AHHH jeeze, where to start? There are SOO many errors in thinking here it's actually become more sad than funny to read.

I keep reading this **** and this this is CLuBsI or something. "d00!! LYke h00kz uP y0 AiRPumP, U GeTZ MaD Hp y0!!"

It takes just a little bit of common sense to understand why this idea would not work.. sure someone could taken the time to write out a drawn out detail explanation as to why the idea is flawed.. However, since the common sense wasn't there to begin with, chances are the technichal explanation would just go over their head.. why waste your time?

Thanks HuggyBear,
I am sceptical about this as well. I do want to try it however, just to see if it works. I would apreciate it if you guys wouldn't curse on my thread, especially if you want to throw flames up my ***. Respect me and I'll respect you. If you give me a logical reason not to do this I would be more inept to think about listening to you, instead of you pissing me off, and making me just want to do it to show you that I can make it work. Who knows, sometimes things that shouldn't work work and things that should work don't. I just posted this because I thought it was a cool idea and maybe someone would like to try something like it with me to see if it really works or not. This thing would be an easily reversable thing that you can do. Its not likes its permenant or anything. I'll get me a beater N/A and try this. Oh and he put the boost guage in an N/A to see HOW MUCH BOOST HE COULD GET!!!!! Think about THAT. You might know about engineering but you don't seem to have much comon sence either. You don't like my **** keep it to yourself and don't post on my thread anymore.

Has anyone seen any values for the horsepower it takes to run the intake turbine?

I could care less if this works or not, but damn Felix and dre, I would not expect such petty and childish insults from the 2 of you!! Cmon guys, someone had an idea, but they may not have the voulmes of info that you have, so there is no need to rip em. This is a support forum, not an abuse one. Just let them know the physics of why it won't work, and leave this post alone!!! Happy rotoring, and good luck peacekeeper!!

woa watch the flames! sorry but already graduated form HS and have some college credit under MY BELT.

OK, this idea has been thought of and discussed SOOO many times i guess i'm just sick of it. sheesh.

The airpump has NOT NEARLY enough volume to make positive pressure in the manifold. THINK of all the bends and turbulence the air goes through before entering the rotor housing. The suction of the rotors and the pressure waves that the MAZDA ENGINEERS made in the VDI is more than 2x the 'pressure' of the airpump. ENGINEERS that are MUCH smater than your HS punk *** already thought about this LONG ago. IT DOESNT ****** WORK. The VDI is a natural supercharger in it's own way and actually does ram some air, about 14 hp worth . And that works off of NEGATIVE pressure.

---It's like having a plane in a windtunnel with wind speeds of 200mph and you shooting a leafblower in there to raise the plane 1ft. in elevation, DOESNT WORK.

---It's like the effect of trying to blow a note card off the top of a straw with your breath, can't be done --plus this time the straw is curved, even harder (and I learned this in 4th grade .

Sorry bro, but this aint gonna work. Go try it and prove me wrong, only THEN will I apologize about the '7th grade' comment

OH, BTW - Thanks for the offer, but I'm straight and don't want to suck your dick

dang when i clicked this thread i though it was for free boost for an already turbo model! and like badboy said we should let him do this to an rx7 and see if it's worth it and see if he can prove a gain then start the bashing.

oh and felix is that car in your avitar the car you bought or how you want your car to look? cause it's sic dude

First off, youre only backing up the claims that youre ignorant when you make posts like this. Its clear you dont know what youre talking about. Why dont you sell me your car and go get a honda? I hear you can get cool neon lights that add HP too

Its also pretty clear that youre in high school ... though I would have never guessed you were a senior. You act more like a freshman. Learn to grow up and take a little criticism ( epsecially when you post pea brain ideas like this ).

Secondly, and most importantly, this thread needs to be CLOSED. Its going nowhere and I dont really feel like reading more of peacekeepers mindless dribble or immature cracks regarding homosexual activities.

dre you can be as sarcastic as you want. respect and courtesy arent an offshoot of education, iv seen many educated ********.

ill take one "7th grade" member who can put out a positive attitude over any 10 dick wads who wanna slam someone who doesnt know everything they do. i knew nothing about rotaries when i showed up here, thank god i didnt get responses to questions i asked like i saw here.

btw im not directing dick wad and 7th grader at anyone in particular, just referencing for effect.

hopefully this thread can end now cause i think its all bin said. anything else is just flaming for your own ego.

I dont know exactly what they were thinking at the time, but I know I get mad when stuff like this is posted because it just dumbs down the people that dont know much about cars. Theyll go out there and try and hook up their air pump to make boost and think it really works too. Look at the people already posting that are saying, "Yeah! It might work! Just put a 10 foot pulley on it!" ... Theyre dumbed down so far that they dont even know that you would want a SMALLER pulley to make the thing spin faster.

I hate it when stuff like this gets posted because it just adds to the false info thats out there that some people will pass on as truth.

Id rather have harsh ( intelligent ) ******** rip on me for being stupid as opposed to having people blow sunshine up my *** and give right info 25% of the time. If I post something stupid and get ripped on ( which did happen when I was new ), I was DAMN sure not to do it again.

Maybe thats just me.
