erratic idling
So, I've done a lot of work to my car in these last couple months, and I've gotten so much done but i still seem to have one problem, which is erratic idling. I can not get my idle to drop below 1500 RPMs, which after all I've gone through with this car i was ok with, but the idle was jumping from 1500-1800 RPMs constantly, so a friend and i adjusted the TPS to where it would stop the bouncing, but once we reved it up and it would drop it would go back to the erratic idling then level out again. No matter what I do the idling always seems to be erratic no matter what I do with the TPS, so if anyone has any idea what it could be or has had this before just let me know please! Thanks for the help!

Idle can be many other things. Using the TPS to fix it is just band-aiding another problem which could be hurting the performance in another way. Just set the TPS to 1DCV (or 1000ohms) at idle and check other places like vacuum leaks (carb cleaner test), BAC, etc.

This problem has been repeatedly posted on this forum over the last decade. How to search for it is up to you. Just saying it's been posted a bunch in the past. Nothing more, nothing less.
Could be a vauuum leak. Could be one of the three vacuum hose on the front of the dynamic chamber are misrouted/swapped.
Could be the water thermowax maladjusted. Could be too tight a throttle cable. Could be a BAC that's stuck open a bit. PUll it's plug off and see if there is a change........or not.
Could be the timing being advanced to far . You can't check that because you need the engine below 1100 rpm for the timing to be checked.
Could be injector grommets that are rock hard leaking air. Vacuum leak in other words.
Idle the engine and spray the engine liberally with starter fluid. Two cans or it. See if the engine speed changes as you spray.
Search the site.
With a HOT engine, pull the intake duct off and look at the throttle plates to see if they are completely closed....or Not.
