Is the engine ruined?

I accidentally drove my car with the engine coolant cover off. I changed my coolant but forgot to put the cover back on and after I drove the car for less than quarter of a mile, the car stalled and it won't start anymore. Did I ruined the engine? I know it's harmful to drive with not enough coolant in it but I didnt go any farther than a quarter of a mile. Before it stalled, I heard a loud bang noise from the engine compartment, then it went dead. Do you think I blew an engine?

Any idea, guys? Help!

did you notice if the temp guage went up? or the incredibly annoying buzzer going off while the "add coolant" light went on?

After reading that, I sound like an ***. I'm not being sarcastic, just trying to widdle down possibilities before assuming your motor's dead. But a compression check would reveal some answers.

Are you still getting power to everything? Check all of your fluids?

Is it siezed? Will the engine crank but not fire?
The bang is rather ominous.
You need to try the basics, and as Gatlin says, Compression test!

I did not see the temperature going up or should i say, i didnt notice and the buzzer and the "add coolant" light didnt go on.

I went ahead and add coolant again, cranked it but all i hear is clicking sound. The engine wont crank.

you probably threw a seal and the engine is now seized.

If you are hearding a click that is the solenoid that activates the starter, thus if you hear that and the engine doesn't turn over either the starter is dead and needs a rebuilt or the engine is dead. I have had 2 dead starters on 7s one on an 83 and another on an 89.

Let it dry for a good couple of days, replace that cover, and see what happens, also charge your battery.
If colant hit the alternator, it probably blew one of the main fuses.
