Engine Reviews

I'm looking into buying a motor from Kevin from Rotary Ressurection. Hes been very helpful in all his return e-mails..answering all my questions, etc., and I have heard nothing but good about him and his work on the forum. Any feedback on engine rebuilds that you've purchased from him would be great...

Pineapple would be awsome...but id like to get it ported, and they won't warranty there engines that are ported unless you get the $2,195 5 yr warranty..thats almost as much as I payed for my car....altough new rotor housings are very tempting.

Not knocking kevins work, but you are trying to hotrod an engine built with less than optimum parts. That engine WILL NEVER seal as well as one with new housings. So with shipping and all you are paying what?: 1500-1600 Bucks? Hell, buy new housings and build/port your own.

Cant argue with that much. Note that on such items as side seals, corner seals, springs, etc., you can usually measure LESS than 10% wear over stock (NEW) specs. These are the parts that get reused. This is not the evil that it may be portrayed as. I would bet my *** that an engine built with equal condition apex seals, rotor housings, and used irons, and USED parts listed above, vs the same engien built with NEW parts listed above, would have less than 5hp measureable power loss due to having used original parts.

That engine WILL NEVER seal as well as one with new housings.
No argument with that either. Just think of it this way. Let's say you buy a great engine from somewhere with new rotor housings and all new seals/springs. You pay $2500 shipped (average). You put your new engine in, it runs great, you break it in, you dyno x amount of hp. Now your buddy joe blow gets a rebuild with some used parts for half or less as much as you paid for yours, and he spends the rest of the savings on mods. He breaks his engine in, and makes a few dyno pulls... guess what? HE got x + Y amoutn of hp, for the same money, while you only got X.

So with shipping and all you are paying what?: 1500-1600 Bucks?
With core return, streetport, and FD corner seal springs and front/rear main seals, I quoted him $1300 plus shipping. Note that this would pay for almost two of just about anybody else's offer. Sure, a used housing engine might not last quite as long as a new housing engine, but I find it hard to believe the advantage is more than double, as the price might indicate.

gonna go with pineapple
IF im gonna lose prospective business, i'd rather it be to them. I have heard nothing but good about them.

As much respect as I have for them, IM still not sure how a thread inquiring as to experiences with my engines led to recommendations of other shops

Like I said, I have nothing against Kevin or his rebuilds, They do serve a VERY NEEDED purpose, But I suggest thinking further down the road than just 2 or 3 months. If you are looking for maximum performance, start with thwe best possible platform you can. I changed my mind in 6 months on what I want and now have a Pineapple collecting Cobwebs on its protective cocoon. Just analyze your needs carefully. (Unlike What I Did)

but about Shakira...all I have to say is that her butt should be an example to all women of what a *** is supposed to look like.

Someone on forum that has real feedback about Kevin's rebuilds would be nice too...still waiting for some feedback that doesn't involve, "go to this shop instead"....or from someone that needs to attend anger management. hehe

Get ahold of Piranha, him and his friend each bought an engine. Also ask groundzero, I have built 3-4 for him. Steve Ranieri, who I think doesnt visit here anymore(maybe I fixed all his problems? :-) got one a while back, a lot of people that get them have been on this forum but never post anything. I can probably give some email references as well. Then there are a ton of local people who dont get on the internet at all who i have done work for.

Oh, and 2-3 months? Maybe years...

e-mail references would be nice...but unfortuently(sp) im gonna have to take out a loan to help pay for wherever i get my engine from....im only getting like $800 on back form the j-yard **** motor i bought...so ill need some more $$. Thinking that Pineapple might have to by my choise just b/c of the warranty, plus there nearby. Going to call and talk to them though and get all the details about everything.

Anybody how big pineapple large s-port is?? pretty good size?
