I agree, those 12.00 bits suck. I just came into a air die grinder. Cant wait to let it rip. My dremel is toast.

I think it's a great thread to ask my question. I have a s5 TII jspec engine with 90 psi on both rotors. Since the engine is out, I am rebuilding it. I guess there will be a lots of parts that will still be in clearance and size numbers. What are parts that must be change when you open the engine ?

Only the gaskets and O rings have to be replaced, the balance are a function of money ( if in spec). On a tii its best to renew the apex seals. I personally like to replace every spring. While they might be in spec, they are the next weakest component.

Nurse I need 1300cc's NOW
for those who have rebuilt rotory's.. i have a question.. if i had one of those videos, and a manual. and i have about a 6-7 months of automotive training. ( so far biggest project was pretty much rebuilding a dodge daytona turbo engine) and i m pretty good at solving automotive problems on v type and inline type engines.. would that merit enough experiance to remove and rebuilt a rotory??,, i have alot of the tools needed to do this by what the previous post state.
also what is the time frame most people experiance in the rebuilding process? with ordering the right seals and what not., any info would be great because this is something im seriously looking into cuz i believe im getting a fc s5 for free it has a small engine problem . and i want to rebuld it to make it last.. so any help will be appreciated .. thanks mark

You could do it. I did my first one with little difficulty and all I rebuilt before it was a Honda B16 (Integra) engine. It took me about a week to disassemble / measure / reassemble everything for the 13B, not counting porting time.

I'm finding that most of the time spent in my rebuild is actually cleaning and inspecting the parts, getting it from the engine bay -fully hooked up- to an engine stand, then completely dissasembled took around 6 hours. (I think)

depends on mechanical apptitude and organization skills. If your a wiz at piston engines, using the rebuilding tape that is being sold, the FSM, Haynes manual and have a good understanding on how to use the measuring devices, i would say it would not take more than 5 hours longer than the everyday rebuilder. I taught my kid how to do one (he did every minute of labor including the front stack and end play measurement. It took about 5 hours longer than I do them in.
