engine harness
I've already done a search and couldn't find exactly what I was looking for. (I found things that start out similar.) I want to replace the engine harness on my 88 TII because of broken wires, connecters, etc. I wanted to get a new one so I called Ray at Malloy Mazda and it wasn't available. My other thought was to rebuild it, but I don't know where I could get the connectors, I did a google search without any luck. Does anyone know if I could get a new one through any other channels? Or does anyone were I could get the connectors (without chopping one off of a used harness) I and trying to avoid splicing and I want to run whole new wires. Thanks for any suggestions.

Does anyone have the Mazda parts catalog for the 88 engine/electrical system so I could find the part number for the harness? Or does anyone know the part number on an 88 TII? Mazdaformance had a few sections on their site but it wasn't listed in what they had. Thanks

You can re-wire your harness but it is a big job that will probably take you a week of work to do it correctly. I recently did this for my T2 swap and while it took a long time I'm glad I did it--found many broke, shorted, and some with just too much resistance. If you can't find a new one then your best bet is to go to the junkyard and get a few harnesses from other cars. In the end no matter what you do you will have to splice the wires--the connectors to the ECU have special pins and I was unable to find replacements so splicing was required. There are six fuel injector type connectors and you can get cheap replacements from Mach V Motorsports (4 injectors + BAC + water temp). Grind down the notch on the injector as they are not keyed correctly but otherwise fit perfect.
If you find the right replacement pins you can run all new wires without splicing (if you find them send me a PM with the info). Then use your old connectors or get some off junkyard cars. Just about any Mazda of that year will have similar connectors.
Good Luck,
Scott

Former Moderator. RIP Icemark.
The US-spec 87.5/88 Turbo engine harness is no longer available.
You would need to rebuild your existing harness or get a harness and modify it to fit you car.
