engine doesnt rev correctly when cold... 87 NA

Hi guys...

so, i think if got a good deal on my winter/drift car... (next year flywheel+clutch, LSD, exhaust and a nice 50-75rwhp shot )

the car runs great, pulls strong, the 5th and 6th ports are working, 160.000km's on the engine (have i mentioned that i bought the car with new tires, sony radio, sony 10x CD changer, new radiator, new brakes, new handbrake and a ******* clean engine bay for 400$? ... some minor rust on the body/fenders but aready fixed that...)

there are 2 little problems...

1.)

when i start the engine cold, it revs up like it should, stays there for 3 or 4 seconds, then comes down and it dies... after i start it the second time it idle's fine at higher RPM like it should... (about 1500 - 2000rpm)

but when i give it some throttle, the engine acts like there is no spark... it sputters and takes some time to response on the throttle input...
is there something on the 87NA's which retards timing or anything like that that could make this problem? any input is welcome

2.)

after some fast driving (when the engine is warm of course), the engine SOMETIMES acts also like it has no spark... but only for a second after i let the throttle off... i dont have this problem everytime

thanks for your help!
Patrick

well all i know is this: when my AFM went out it would start on the first try then die after it revved up. Afterwards it would buck like crazy until it warmed up, much like yours.

and it's normal for the car to jump up to anywhere between 1200 to 3000 rpms on a cold start until it warms up, that is just either the cold start assist or the thermowax heating up.

I wish I had some spare FC MAF's laying around. Those go for some good money, especially to alot of the AE86 guys.

they really go for good money here in europe... you only have to wait until someones need them

like every other FC part... i've sold a ECU 2 years before for 350euro... (~500 dollar )
