engine cuts badly above 3600 rpm. holding clutch slightly in solves it any ideas?!?!

alright so i have an 87 N/A with 168k miles on it. above 3800 rpm or 3600 rpm under load my engine cuts pretty bad, not being able to accelerate at all pretty much. first i thought it was my secondary injectors were either clogged or has an electrical problem. but the problem was intermittent, most of the time it would cut, but there are few times when it would run just perfect. so i figure if they were clogged why would it work sometimes? so first thing i did was change the oil, plugs, and fuel filter. no change. however on my way to my house tonight it started to cut as usual but i noticed right before i changed gears it would stop. so i pushed the clutch in slowly and right as the "SHIFT UP" light turned off it stopped cutting and ran fine... so ok wtf? i don't want to drive with my foot on the clutch just to pass people on the freeway. and autocrossing like that is out of the question. i need some ideas people i'm going crazy!

Search for 3800 rpm hesitation. Hopefully it will work.

Check the ground under your LIM under your inspection plate to see if it's loose.
