point of a forum is to share information and help other people out.... you sound a bit like a greedy ***.... many people have built things and then posted everything you need to know on how to build it.... no you have to think money money money.. . just put the damn part numbers up and be a nice guy... your not gonna make much of anything anyway, i know i would

What's to stop some "*******" from buying your list then posting it up for the world to see?

im not talking about how you priced the unit.... thats not what im talking about at all... its just now you are saying only if you pay me some money ill post the part numbers for you... and if you dont you wont get the part numbers.... god man its just copy and paste it so we can go buy the parts... some people here are too poor anyway to even pay you that 10 bucks..... for that i was calling you a greedy ***

now if you were a manufacture or a legite buisness then i wouldnt be able to say this but you are apparently not because you want money via paypal

Hmm... maybe you could hook up a relay just before the ignition switch connector. So, when you go to crank the engine, it powers the relay as well. Then use some other power source in the engine bay to go through the relay, and the relay connects the circuit to the electric actuator/air pump.

That's a good idea (the ignition switch actuator). A few seconds should be enough to open them, though I suspect anyone who builds their own system for opening the ports is likely to be using them frequently in their normal driving...

that is true^, but less so for the VDI. admit it, a lot of us don't hit 5k on the drive to work (although i know I personally hit that up ).

i am mostly trying to justify why i would pick this setup, which is fairly costly, over the dozen or so other solutions, most of which are cheaper and work just as well...having a maintenance function like that would set it apart.

here is another idea: wire the system to some lights or LEDs after the solenoid to show
a) the solenoid is operational
b) your aux ports/VDI is engaged

i really like this idea. it just about makes me want to sell my t2 and bridgeport an n/a with these solenoids to control the ports and vdi.

http://www.iluvmyrx7.com/2ndgen/how-...port_light.htm is a page discussing LEDs wired to the stock port actuators.

I considered this idea once. The only difference is that I was going to make a cable and linkage system attached to a remote solenoid that is mounted off the engine and away from the heat.

Instead I just made an insert into my exhaust pipe and operate it on exhaust backpressure like it was designed to operate. The 5th and 6th ports on my car open at 3800 RPM with an extremely simple system and has been in use for 6 years. Total cost... $8 and a few hours gathering parts and welding. We do not have to re-invent the wheel here guys… 5th and 6th ports are not the difficult to get operating correctly on an S4.

well then, this thread just keeps getting more informative
although that link doesn't really tell you HOW or what materials are needed for that setup...

yeah, there is nothing wrong with paypal. it has actually become a pretty safe and fast way to get things done...

This is a wiring diagram on how I wired in LEDs on my S5. It doesn't verify that the ports are actually opened, but it does verify that the pumps that operate them are getting power.

And yeah, I just used crimp-on quick disconnects every where, so I didn't have to cut off the connectors to the old solenoids. The pumps, relays, and connectors all used .250" spades.

With the LEDs I learned that they don't always open up at 3800 rpm... the ecu decides when to open the ports based on the throttle position. LOL, I thought I did something wrong with the wiring at first when the LEDs weren't lighting up. Turned out I just wasn't giving enough gas.

Aux ports: 3800 + half throttle + engine at running temp
VDI port: 5800, any throttle, any temp

Not to mention if you used the solenoids, you'ld only need one pump instead of two...

.

https://www.rx7club.com/showthread.p...t=lumbar+pumps

this was my rig. for an s5 it would coust $30 or less (2 pumps @about $5-10, 2 relays and wires @ about $10-15)

an s4 would cost about $65 ($50 for an rpm switch $5-10 for the pump, and few more bucks for wires etc)

al told it weighs maybe a pound. and can be put together in a few hours if you know the basics of how the circuit is set up and can solder etc.

no, i dont have a specific part ## for the pumps but there were many derivatives of the pumps made by ford (some with different brakets/connectors) but they all are esentialy the same thing. just look on ebay, a junk yard, or even a ford parts dept, they came on pretty much any ford with adjustable lumbar cushoins made in the past 15 years as far as i can tell.

I had seen this thread in previous searchs and never a part number :/ If someone has one that would be great, if not I am going to try and make my vdi off a vacuum diaphragm like the euro 6pi butterflies do.

The euro system really is interesting. I wonder why Mazda made two different versions.

My guess is that they would have went with the more conventional 6pi setup, but the thermal reactor exhaust manifold didn't allow the room for the diaphragms to clear.

so does anyone know where to locate various solenoids or any companies that make them? I want to give this another shot but on s5
