(electrical gremlin) radio and acceleration

ok so my first guess is gonna be vibration...BUT, when i accelerate past 5K my CD player (older pioneer) will kinda reset/shutoff and switch to CD playing mode without a CD in it (it will not switch to CD player mode with no cd in it regularly)? i can smack the dash next to the CD player very hard and get no reaction out of the CD player but when i accelerate it does this...i can also here some relay switching furiously while this is going on..some times the CD player does nothing during acceleration and neither does the relay......
could this just be poor connections to the CD player's power wires?
might there be other problems i could check when i re-do the power wires?

Yeah, do that. It sounds to me like there might be an exposed wire or an incorrect connection going to the radio. But don't rule out the possibilty that the radio might need to be replaced (or fixed). If you have a multi-meter you can check the resistence of the different wires and see if there's a short, or an open somewhere.
