electric ps

I wanna convert my s5 to use an electric pump.

Will the mx5 electric power steering pump be able to provide the required fluid pressure for the fc steering rack?

anyone know of another electric ps pump i can use?

and please dont' tell me to get rid of it, as i need power steering, but its the way of the cooler pipes i want to put in.

thanks for any help

Intercooler pipes?

they can be done with out converting to manual or converting to a remote electric pump...

Many guys with drift setups keep the P/S for the quick response - and they still run a front mount...you just have to delete the A/C compressor and route the piping below the P/S pump where the A/C unit used to reside...

but as far as the actual question - I would imagine that pump would be adequate, but there will be many more questions involved in a conversion like that....

I'd be curious to know the answer to this as well. If anyone knows for sure then please post up the answer.

Many of the EV (electric vehicle) owners I know have converted to electric power steering pumps and have a hell of a time making things work right. The issue is that standard automotive PS pumps draw a huge amount of current. Upwards of 60-70A when the wheels are turned to extremes. The main problem with this is providing that kind of current at 12V without overloading the rest of the system.

In the short run, those current draws aren't a big deal but if you are doing something like a road course or autox, you may find your battery draining quickly as the stock charging system tries to keep up...

I'm sure that pump would work if you can figure out how to wire it. People mix and match PS components all the time.
