Man, I'm glad I wasn't the first one to reply to geargrabber. I wouldn't have been as nice. Hehe.

E-Fan = Cleans up engine bay, ability to customize when it comes on/goes off, expensive, failure prone
Manual Fan = No hassle, good performance, cheap, kinda ugly

Here ya go. Read!

Also at the bottom of that page you will see 2 links for Aarons E-fan discussion pages.

failure prone
I will have to agree due to the very reason that most owners, that attempt the installation do not wire it correctly and do not use the right terminals or wire size or do not use a thermo switch so its on all the time decreasing the life of the motor.

Other then that, buying the GOOD parts and wiring the fan up correctly using the right wire size and connectors, the e-fan is just as reliable as the clutch fan.

Your S5 gauge is actually more of a three position indicator rather than a linear sweep gauge.
It shows "Cold", "Normal" and "Call AAA".

My stock H2O temp gauge never varies from 1/2 way while my aftermarket temp gauge actually responds to changes in speed/load.

Don't change the thermostat from stock.

I'll quibble with at least two of your assertions here...
Used fans from the junkyard are remarkably cheap and also quite reliable.

In my quest for the elusive Taurus efan at the junkyard, I probably tested over twenty fans in various states of cosmetic and mechanical disarray and every one of them spun when power was applied.

Don't have any experience with aftermarket fans but IMO, OEM fans are built like the proverbial brick poophouse.

my .02

I removed the stock fan for a e-fan about 2 months ago (maybe a bit more) I did it mainly for room and a cleaner look.

I ALSO changed the coolant and thermostat when I did it

the fan is a 16" puller 2600 cfm @10amp

I have never had my temp gauge any higher then it was with the stock fan.. that is with driving, auto X and hard spirited driving.. no problems at all

Why would you want to make the engine run cooler? It will just cost you power and fuel economy.

Yes, the S5 temp gauge sits exactly in the middle when the car is at normal operating temperature.
