EGT gauge shows difference in fuel and ignition adjustments.
Wide-band only shows changes in fuel.

Wide-band reacts faster.
Because you're just trying to hit a target AFR, the wide-band is easier to use due to this.

I don't understand what you mean by "more accurate".

I'd take an EGT gauge over a wide-band anyday.

From what I understand, there are alot of little variables with egt, I dont think it would be good to tune with just that if you really dont know what your doing. Get a wideband.

widebands are more foolproof, it is easy to tell a monkey to hit a target AFR than to tell him to adjust your timing while monitoring the EGT to valley then trim it back a few degrees and then adjust fuel to peak and then add some in. monkeys do better when you give simple commands. i would have to say a dyno is actually a better tuning tool than both but i would order them like #1)dyno with AFR 2)AFR 3)EGT but all 3 would be ideal.

monkey was just a reference i felt like using since there is a monkey here.

EGT

But seriously, 250 will get you dual EGT from pineapple racing and for around 300 you can net a UEGO wideband on ebay, i've heard of cheaper deals on other Innovate models out there, but they might be harder to find at cheaper prices.

Either way, for under 600 bucks you can have EVERYTHING you'll ever need to monitor the combustion....

you can get a PLX for under $200 but you're right, EGTs usually are cheaper than windebands but i find a wideband is a more useful tool since unless you have a standalone EMS you cannot adjust timing but it can be a useful diagnostic tool to see if your ECU is manipulating the timing correctly, faulty sensors can start pulling timing a bit and losing you some valuable power, especially with how conservatively the stock ECU pulls timing to protect the engine.
