![Question](https://www.rx7club.com/images/icons/icon5.gif)
Alright first off, what up everybody, I got myself an 88 rx7 n/t auto
yeah yeah i know auto sucks, horrible but the tranny and motor are in good condition and everything seems to be ok
except, the rpm fluctuates excessively and the motor stalls out sometimes. i got it diag. at the dealer and they said its the pcm/ecu, and they wanna charge me 800 to fix it. right off the bat i said "**** that" and well now im here looking for advice,
yes i searched the forums for similar problems but couldnt really find an answer to my question
wheres the best place to get an aftermarket ECU for my car, and would a used one be good choice?
is it possible that my **** is flooded?
help me out. I love you.
-best regards,
Payam

It's not likely the ECU. more than likely it's the 17year old vacuum hoses. Get 20ft of silicon tubing and replace all of it. Then set your TPS and timing. You can download free copies of the Factory Service Manual (FSM) at www.iluvmyrx7.com. I also recommend reading through the archives. They're very helpfull. For more info, Search for "Hunting idle", or "idle issues." Don't trust the dealer. most of them don't know a rotary from a rotissary.

haha, if you ever were to even consider paying the 800, get them to sign a ******* agreement that if that does not fix the problem, they have to either
1)give your money back and charge nothing (no labor)
2)Have you pay for the part, but charge nothing else to find out whats really the problem and fix it.
