just a shot in the dark..
Or maybe he jacked up the car and spun a wheel and the other spun the opposite direction and he figured that is why he has a LSD.

You have a problem figuring out if your car is turbo or not???
Then you got bigger problems than you think...

See the FAQ stickies.
ALL TURBOS HAVE LSD's FROM THE FACTORY IF THEY ARE U.S. MODELS.

Why would you assume the two were identical?

Exactly, Open your eyes and see when people do a NA-TII conversion, even if they have NA lsd they're not going to put it on there, unless in some cases. They go with a TII lsd, and isn't the TII lsd a 4.1 and na a 3.9?

I think you should read the options sheet, I know they mention gear ratios.

Here are pictures of the '94 and up Miata T1 helical, and the T2 helical.
They are exactly the same size.
The T1 is the original Torsen design, and used 20 gears.
The T2 is the newest Torsen design, and not only uses less gears, but is a hell of a lot easier to machine.

thanks for the quick reply but T2 torsen does not fit in to a na diff. Since the t2 runs a 8 inch ring gear and the na cars runs a 7 inch ring gear. ANd when did the t2 came with a torsen diff? i thought it was only third gens that had it? Again thanks!

You are mis-informed sir.
There is no difference between the 7" T1 to the 7" T2.
When I speak of T1, and T2, I am referring to the Torsen designation, NOT to anything to do with Mazda.
Go to www.torsen.com, and read up on them.
I have sold about 10 of each in the past year.

This is the E-mail apply i got from the guy that sells torsen LSDs online. I am not sure if he is correct or if he just thinks he is. On torsen's website there is two torsen under mazde. One for rx7 (unstated on what model) and one for miata. Did any one buy a LSD from this guy before? And does it work well? THanks!

You are getting confused.
"T1" and "T2" are model designations of the *Torsen*.
"T2" has NOTHING to do with the Mazda Turbo II.
Go reread the reply - it does state this explicitly.

Again, the LSD from the non-turbo and turbo CANNOT be swapped.
The physical size of the LSD's are different.

Is it too much to ask that people who have not set up a third member or worked on driveline stuff ever in their life stay out of discussions involving something they know so little about and just do some reading and listening.

wow. biggest waste of my time reading this entire thread...

kind of a related question here. the Torsen LSD that came in some S5 TIIs in Japan (possibly the last FC infini only, not too sure), were those basically just FD torsens?
