never buy lifetime guarantee brake pads. the material thay are made of is too hard, so they dont grip well, they squeak, and they wear out rotors.

yeah, a lot of high priced cars come with slotted and drilled rotors.... lets say porches, ferraries , high end mercedes.... there has to be a reason for that

there is a reason. they cool faster, because they have more surface area, and the gasses that build up between pad and rotor are vented thru the slots. plus, slots de-glaze the pads. when pads get heated and used, they get a smooth, hard surface, or glaze. slots wear this surface off, so that you have soft, grippy pads all the time. they do wear out quite a bit faster tho.

the only argument of this thread is whether the ebay rotors are junk or not, not whether drilled/slotted rotors in general are. if you get good quality ones, they will definately perform better than stock.

What about some Brembo Rotors. I just ordered some stock replacements from Gotham Racing. They said they come direct from brembo, and Im getting them slotted, cross drilled, and zinc plated. $135 for the front set, just the two rotors. They are legit right? Brembo is a good company too, correct. I figured Gotham really gets them from brembo, the guyt here told me I'd have to wait two weeks because brembo would have to make them.

Over the past few weeks I've been cleaning up the suspension by sanding and metal cast painting parts in black including the calipers in red. Things were pretty bad off so I decided to clean it up and add some paint to make it look a little nicer. I sprayed the rubberized undercoating in all 4 fender wells. I got the Tokico "blues" in the rear for now and I also have Eibach springs on the way. I also added slotted rotors with new brake pads.

That time maybe, and maybe even the next, but what about the time after that? Brakes are too important to be done on the cheap. As Mark said, you have no idea about the quality control or testing of no-name ebay "performance" parts.

I'd have grave doubts about the products sold by a internet-only company that calls itself "Cquence Motorsports". Where are all the race cars this "motorsports" company has built? Did they test these rotors on their race cars? Have they tested them at all? Why is the warranty only 60 days? Doesn't that seem just a tad short for a safety-critical parts?

Nobody said stock is better and nobody said cross-drilled and slotted rotors are crap. Learn to read properly before calling other people ignorant...

What was said (quite clearly I thought) was that the quality of the stuff sold on ebay is often suspect, and you shouldn't go cheap on stuff as important as brakes. If you believe ebay rotors are built and tested to the same quality standards as namebrand stuff you're kidding yourself.

I don't know anything about car brake rotor, and that's why I'm reading this thread. One thing I noticed is that you guys don't like cross-drilled because you mentioned that they cracks and such. Have you ever wonder why they put them on high performance motocycles? Those motocyles definitely are going faster than our RX7. I like to hear about someone who had cross-drilled problem more.

I'm going to throw my $0.02 on this one. First of all you get what you pay for. Second most of the rotors sold on ebay are something to the effect of "brembo blanks" then a company takes they and either drills or slots them or both for w/e application. This only increases these rotors chance of being destroyed under semi-hard driving conditions. The rotors that they use do not have the correct makeup to handle the holes in them and have a tendency towards breaking. I mean i could go buy a set or brembo blanks and drill them but that doesnt mean that 1. i know what i am doing and 2. that it will hold up well. I would say though that if you actually bought brembo or whoevers drilled rotors (that actually make the rotors themselves and drill them themselves) there would be less chance of this happening since that company would have taken the time to do the R&D to get the product right. Unlike the ebay company that just drills or slots them for appearance sake. As far as them coming on high end cars like Prosche well that is true but i have also had conversations with more than one Porsche owner that has taken their car to the track and their rotors have self destructed. So IMO save up the money for some good rotors and pads. Also, IMO stock would be better than ebay rotors. Also as for being put on bikes. Take into consideration how much mass the bike's rotor has to stop vs. how much a cars rotor would need to stop.

my old integra, is now owned by my younger sister. we bought ebay brakes and installed them when I had the teg (over 2yrs). that teg has seen many autoxs and been to the strip plenty of times. i drove the hell outta that thing and so does she... still. not one problem other than the pads wearing out little faster. they even went through a resurface/cut! that teg has been from 130mph to 60mph plenty of times while on the freeway. that was proof enough for me.

i put a set on my rx7 and love them. they are much better IMHO that the stockers. i will admit, that they do eat the pads rather quickly, my rex has also seen 140mph (just like hondahater) with these brakes and no problems or complaints. i'll be sure to post how they hold up too!
