My biggest problem on the race track is staying on the racetrack. Dirt will get inside the spring perch threads and freeze them in place.

My first set of spring perches used a set screw. They worked fine if they weren't frozen but if they were frozen, they were very hard to un-stick. Also the set screw is steel and the ring is aluminum. That also froze and the allen wrench stripped the set screw.

Possibly a nice coating of grease or petroleum jelly might have kept the dirt and corrosion out.

The current popular choices seem to be a "clamp" type coil adjuster which uses a screw spanning a split in the adjuster ring to clamp it in place and a jam nut style.

The clamp type adjusters usa an allen screw for the clamp so I decided to stay away from the clamp type to avoid the possibility of stripping the screw.

The jam nut style seems to have nice big wrenches and notches that should not strip. I have not needed to make many adjustments on these coilovers but they have worked flawlessly so far.

The threaded collar may be too long for the shock but it is very easy to cut down. You can even cut a spiral pattern if you want it to seat neatly on your stock spring perch.

I just remembered. the stock bump stops will just fit inside the springs. They will hold the springs in place better than the aluminum caps.

I also forget how the stock front struts rotate for steering. My original kit uses a torrington bearing between the aluminum cap and the camber plates.

Steering can be a little more difficult if there is not an easy rotation at the top of the front strut.
