Hey, do me a favor? Knock that stuff off. I know you're 16 and having fun and think your invincible, but you're not. Hell I was there once too, even though I didn't get a car until I was 21, but I managed to crash that car doing dumb **** too. Please let my loss become your gain. The street isn't the place for that. You can get into autocross events for cheap (20 bucks!) and whoop on your car there, and safely make mistakes that on the street would cost you your car or even your life. This will make you a better driver, and if you have the money you can start attending HPDE events at real-deal race tracks and take it to the next level.

when i said i do these things i didn't mean on downtown streets or public streets at all. I usually do all that kind of stuff in a large open abandoned parking lot. As for driving fast i usually set the cruise on the highway at around 80 and slower intown. I know I'm not invincible and in fact i know someone who was street racing in September(90 mustang gt vs 95 integra) and the stang ended up locking up the driver side front brakes and he skidded into a tree and flipped the car. He luckily got out without injury. Every one thinks that just because someone is you they think they are invincible and they are wrong. Also where would they have an autocross place near me. I know they have days you can drive the pocono raceway with your own car for some $$$$ but that wont be open until spring.

Philly and Susquehanna region SCCAs near you are both large and well organized. Gonna have to wait til spring for it though, I think Philly's last event was last weekend.

guys lay off him, hes only 16.. you know.. when ur that age with your first car, you think your gonna keep it forever and super build it up and hone your super badass driving skills haha

I had a friend who killed a real Exedy Stage 1 clutch just from regular driving in his 240sx *mind you they got torque motors for anyone who says they are crap*.. It could have been from lazy driving , i dont know if he was slipping the clutch all the time, maybe..

I think he ended up buying a lifetime clutch at autozone.. ive had friends who would do that and keep abusing the warranty...

As long as your doing all the work yourself, its the best learning tool and save you money over paying someone else to do it.

But if your car aint broke now, why fix it? Just rock the NA til you kill it, save money on the side and slowly purchase the TII swap parts so when ur engine dies, swap time.

When I was living in Philly for school the Philly region SCCA would hold a winter autox series. Do they not run the winter series any more? I remember a guy smacking his Fiero into a snowbank and shattering a frozen composite fender, that was interesting.

BTW you won't need it for autocross, but for full-size track driver's ed like at Pocono you will need a rollbar in your vert.

To get you started:

www.phillyscca.com/
http://www.motorsportsne.com/
http://www.nasanortheast.org/

If you want you can send me a PM with any questions you might have rather than junk up your thread any more. There's not really any events coming up until next season, now is the time to get your car ready for next season. I know I've got quite a list of things mine needs.

I sport the Exedy (NOT XTD) Stage 2 and I love it, I've done 7k rpm dumps and I've had no slippage whatsoever. (After a very calm breakin period) That said, it was kindof pricey for what you need. Get a cheap Ebay clutch, they work just fine for short term, and save up for a beefy turbo clutch when you're ready.

It should be fine for however long you use it. I know quite a few people who use them without complaint. I just don't think they're high enough quality for my car.

Mazdatrix's price are AWESOME...you can get a good street/strip clutch and pressure plate for under 300....go with them, they have a excellent reputation and will not steer you wrong. as far as the stock drivetrain, there are a TON of people doing it. this guy i talked to a while back went 6 port turbo with all NA drivetrain and it lasted him about two years before he sold the car and dont forget Aaron Cake with his 6 port turbo rockin a ton of power with NA drivetrain for quiet a while. just get a good clutch and pressure plate....you will be fine with NA drivetrain

I have used a zoom dual friction in my mustang, held up great to my abuse. No comment on pedal feel due to POS stang being cable clutch.

^ that will kill your trans, ask me how I know Get a full face if you have stock heavy flywheel. If you have an aluminum flywheel and feel dangerous, go with the six puck and pray you dont grenade it.

Mazdatrix is a god source for quality parts at a reasonable price. I am a little surprised no one has mentioned Mazda Motorsports. Mazda wants to encourage any sort of racing with their cars, and will sell you parts at unbelievable prices if you just show them 2 race results a year. I did AutoX and hillclimb for several years back in Eureka, CA and they saved me thousands of dollars.

I have used a company called EzClutch on ebay, their stage 2 is pretty much mazda OEM. The pressure plate looks more springy but my foot tells me otherwise, the disc looks like an oem style disc, maybe a little bit different material but same crap. +1 for Mazdatrix. I havnt tried F1 before, I have tried xtd, xtd is OEM pressure plate with red spray paint with either an oem disc or a afmkt 6 puck. Moral of the story, you get what you pay for, if its about the same price as OEM, looks like OEM but it says 'STAGE 2', it means its OEM.

I will remember this. Just got a job making $8 an hour. Pretty decent cash flow since all i have to pay for is gas. Guaranteed 30hrs a week. Selling fireworks.
