When I first got it in 1999, I had to constantly explain what it meant. Actually the front plate is a little rough so I'll need to get a replacement once the car is back on the road. An annoyance of mine is license plates that look like they've been to war and back.

Looking good Aaron, The 4088 really compliments the engine much nicer then the HT-18.
It should be a little more suited to the engine.

Where'd you get the coolant overlflow? I know you said the "sight glass" was custom but where'd the can come from?
The aluminum can is a generic part from Summit Racing. Bought it years ago but could never find a space in the engine bay until now. Summit also has catch cans with built in sight glasses, but they're weird looking and plastic.

Are you sure that's not a little big? Looks like a GT40 with a GT42 compressor wheel in the GT40 housing...Probably a 4000RPM+ powerband? You turning your car into a dedicated drag car?

I'm unwilling to cage the car at this point, and probably forever. I just don't think I could deal with the annoyance of a cage on a street car. Keep in mind that I drive the is car semi-daily and use it to make service calls, haul computers, etc. As much as I would enjoy the added stiffness I don't think I can handle squirming in and out of a cage 50 times a day.

We really should get a meet rolling for sometime in the next month.

I'm going for an all-rotary channel since I have a lot of videos from the year of meets and such. Right now there's of course the first start up of this car, some videoes from Rotary Revolution, some peripheral port stuff, lots of bridgeport stuff from RPM Motorsports and some misc.

The other boxes are funnier. There's also "Craft stuff", "Popsicle sticks and glue", "Wicked strong magnets", "rubber *** gloves", "sprockets and chain", and a few other less weird labels...

yeah it's the 42 wheel in the 40 housing. I'd get a full on 42 but I don't think i can make it fit in the engine bay.


4000+rpm powerband is fine, my car idles at 1800 anyways... Yeah, there's no lowend torque anymore, but compared to the FD there never was in the first place, so who cares? :P It makes enough n/a torque to move the car, and with the BB setup of the GT40R's, it should still spool pretty well. Besides, when I move to a 20B I can carry the turbo over with

I'm DDing the 10AE now since my FD got stolen, I haven't had to crawl around a cage before but 1: I don't have to drive much these days and 2: I can get a swingout door bar and remove it on the street if it really irritates me that much - but St. Thomas made it pretty clear last time I was there that I wasn't welcome anymore without a cage... rules now are 11.99 and faster, or 130mph and faster require a 6pt.

It will fit but you need to make a manifold that moves the turbo out into the area between the strut tower and rad support. But then plumbing becomes a major issue and good luck mounting an air filter. Lots of room for a downpipe and wastegate though.

Really, the GT42 is a huge turbo and in my opinion anyway, much too big for a street car. How much power does a street car need, really?

No low end? That seems odd. What are your A/F ratios down low? When I hear people complain about now low end in their bridgeported cars they are normally running leaner then 13:1 or so. Really you need to be around 12:1 for decent low end...

I have a very expensive set of 4 lug wheels, and I don't see the need to go to 5 lug. The only advantage is the bigger brakes and if I ever need to move to larger brakes I'll do something custom anyway with aftermarket parts.

The amusing thing is that I notched the frame to fit the stock turbo. The GT40 fits relatively easily without interference from the frame.
