Jackchild has an excellent writeup on Ford alternators here.
That's a great thread. I can't fabricate though. Someone mentioned in the first page that they had their alt rebuilt and upgraded to 120 amps. It cost then $80. Sounds like a not bad deal to me if I can find so done to do that.

You are in that older thread about the 130 amp Taurus alt too. You said you ran a mazda alt on your v8 then swapped it for a camaro alt. Are you saying that in theory it should work vice versa also? The gm alt on the fc? No wires to be spliced or fabrication of any sort? Can any of the 3 you just mention be slapped in with no hastle?

This is probably your best bet, simple and no hassle for you. Can be done locally or you can find someone to send it off to.

Good Luck!

the only issue with alternators is how they are wired and if they have a built in regulator.
When I went from the mazda to the gm alternator on my v8 FC I used a wiring harness that was available from GM and was less then $25, but you can solder in the correct resistor.
Some people just hook up the 2 wires and think all is well until their alternator dies.
