Question dynomax cats

i just pulled off the stock cats (jesus, theyre still on from 86') from my car today because the pipe connecting the second precat to the main converter has worked its way loose from the flange........i am going to order a dynomax high flow cat which is about 50$ and have meineke weld me a pipe from the manifold to the cat for 40$...... i was just wondering if anyone is or has ran dynomax cats and what good/bad luck you have had with them..........
thanks.........

I am running a dynomax cat - the supercat 18inch model - I have been running it for a couple months now and have logged a couple thousand miles including two 200 mile trips without and noticeable problems. I posted my install at Ihookitup.com. A lot of people told me that an aftermarket cat would melt so I called dynomax and they told me that they use a ceramic suspension mat that can withstand temperatures beyond which the monolith can withstand. Good luck! -JT

Did your Dynomax cat replace all three cats in your RX7? Do you have any more pics of the install? Maybe even of the previous exhaust?? Did you notice any performance gains? Thanks

I don't have any more pics of the install except for some pics of the flanges before they were welded onto the cat. The old cat was leaking underneath the car creating a lot of noise and fumes in the cabin.

I carefully researched the cat - it is a three way cat that replaces all of the cats. I called Dynomax and talked to an engineering tech twice to make sure that it would not melt - and there has been no sign of potential failure so far! I am going to inspect the inside of the cat when I remove the exhaust system and replace it with a RB cat back.

I would say that there was a slight improvement in performance at the top end - the motor was easier to unwind, but the reduction in sound and fumes was the best part! -JT
