Dyno results. Extremely rich
Ok, today i whent to the dyno in my n/a. I honestly was hoping for around 175-180rwhp...but i fell short. The end result is 157.5rwhp@8000rpms. And 125.1ftlbs@4750rpms. Heres a picture of the dyno graph. Notice, that it goes up and down. This was from being way to rich.

Ralph Friend the owner of Excessive Motor Sports thougth that if we could of leaned it out i probably would have picked up around 20-30hp! So all you n/a guys out there, you don't need a T2 fuel pump and 550 secondarys! I'm running stock injectors, with a T2 fuel pump, and i'm loosing hp because of it. (What pressure is a T2 fuel pump and a n/a one?) But anyways, he said either get a s-afc, or a adjustable pressure regulator and come back. So thats what i'm going to do.
If you remember, i've been having a hesitation from 6-7k, this was because of the air/fuel ratios. Atleast i know what i need to get next.
Realy a good learning experience. CJ

That woulda been nice if you did pick up the 30 hp, I would have been damn close with my 18x guess

your #s are a bit shy and aren't you suppose to start recording in 4th gear around 3000rpms (1:1 ratio) ??
157 * 15%loss = ~181 fwHP
125 * 15%loss = ~144 fw ft-lbs torque.

Yo,
How do they hook up the wideband O2 sensor? Pull your regular one and stick it in there? Or an exhaust probe? I'll be dyno'ing my GTUs at the end of the month...

Ralph just said that it just puts pro-longed stress on the engine, and that 3rd gear just makes it a little easier. After all, the dyno is loaded with the weight of your car. And keeping your car wooded from 3k to 8k rpms in 4th gear takes a little while.
Yeah, Ralph removed the stock o2 censor, and put the wide band in place. His son said that sticking it in the tail pipe, just does'nt work very well.
If i could pull out anouther 30hp out of it, i'd be at my 210flywheel goal.
Anyone wanna buy a blow up peripheral port rotor housing for $150?? How about a spare tire for a 2nd gen for $150? I have two in stock ....How about used spark plugs. Origonal spark plugs out of a 1990 Rx-7 with 123k mile on them. Work great. $150 Obo.

He just had the dyno setup so that when i crossed a certain mph, the recording would start. BTW. Its a very, very nice dyno.
If any of you local guys get a chance, stop by and check out his 3rd gen. Damn that thing is awesome. 514rwhp@22psi!! And the thing is gonna go up to 28!! That thing will just be insane. CJ

I thought you were waiting to get the S-AFC before dyno session. Damn, I really wanted to see how much HP increase from leaning it out. Hope you can get $$ for dyno time and S-afc soon :-). I have heard torque #s will be higher dynoing in 3rd and HP highest in 4th (locked trans.)

Dual 2" manderl bent exuast, cone style K&N. Removed double throttle, and coolant flow to TB. Ported black elbo before TB and mass air meter. Ported upper, middle, and lower intake manifold. pineapple Racing 6 port sleeves, Ported 13B built by Pineapple Racing, jacobs ignition wires, Auto meter A/F meter. Short shift kit, with FD shift ****, T2 fuel pump, Hi-6.
You using stock VDI/ports activation?

Ya, the people that have actually TUNED their cars on a dyno, or used a wideband sensor are the ones among us to finally beleive that we DON'T need more fuel!!! The leaner mixture burns hotter and faster!!
Too lean will kill an engine quickly though.
More fuel is required only for more boost in a turbo... where pre-ignition avoidance is a factor. (more fuel=less detonation)
BTW- Not too bad numbers considering its an N/A with (here's the biggie-) stock programming!!
(Maybe you should try your spare ECU... Ooops... just kidding! - I'
ll send it soon)

Could it be inadequate spark that's causing a rich condition above 6K? Maybe it could use two Hi-6 instead of one(if that's what you're running). Keith had a write up on that recently and was quite thrilled with new found power at the upper end.

spark won't shange fuel mixture, ka8legend. however better spark will more easily ignite a really shitty mixture. if you have a crap tuning, then you'll see more gains than if your mixtures are tuned properly.
hey pp13bnos, i can tell you how much leaner you'd run with the stock pump - NONE - fuel pressure is determined by the regulator, not the pump... UNLESS the stock fuel pump is too small for your power (about 185ish flywheel HP?) in which case you'll obviously run lean as the pump runs out of volume.
