Makenzie71 - Yeah, I know singles can be quiet also, what I meant was, I don't think that singles can be quieter than duals, given both are quality mufflers, since one has two to quiet things down as opposed to one.

Do you know of any quiet singles? Just curious.

Mikwon - Yeah, I hear ya, I'm out in SF Bay Area, and I recently got pulled over for my exhaust. Only a HKS Hiper cat back, still got my stock precat, and cat. It was at 94db at idle, and climbed to 96-97 at 3000rpm. The cop took a decibel meter and stood there, measuring. He told me there's no way in hell it was going to pass, since it's at 94 at idle already (he really wanted to give me that ticket). Then he told me to rev it to 3000 and hold it. I kept it steady and smooth so it won't get too loud, and I guess he was surprised that it didn't get too much louder. He even peeked at my tach to make sure I wasn't cheating! Bastard! Anyways, he let me go and told me don't do any more mods, cos it'll go over for sure! HA! Right!

NZ - ONly 20lbs lighter? Wow! Are we talking about aftermarket systems, cos that's my assumption since the stock one weighs what feels like a good 70lbs, while my HKS weighed 27lbs. I know, I know, still not a whole lot, but hey, I'll take what I can get.

RotaryWeapon - yeah, I heard Apexi is loud!

1987RX7guy - the HKS is 94db at idle...is that loud or quiet? I think the quietest might be the Greddy Power Extreme, but then again, isn't that a dual? Also, I know for a fact that the HKS will get louder with time, which I'm sure most mufflers do, my friend had a Hiper carbon, which got louder over time.

Oh...ok, the duals...my bad. Yeah, my friend's MR2 with the dual HKS turbo exhaust is REALLY quiet.

My hiper is not, hahaha.

Yes, we're discussing aftermarket and custom systems. Why would I compare a stock dual system to an aftermarket single? Stock systems are always heavy, it's one reason they're so quiet.

If you use similar pipe and mufflers, the difference is ~20lb.

I have any 87 TII with mods listed below. I have been thinking about buying this custom exhaust my neighbor made. It is a 4" pipe straight back from the turbo with one bend and an N1 muffler welded on. I am just scared of how loud it will be. Here in maine we have a little saying that goes "cop clutch" as if they hear you from more then a block away you are done for. God damn ********, I think they are just giving out so many tickets to compensate for the ammount of money bush blew for no reason on the war in iraq. Anyway how do you think this 4" exhaust would compare to the RB in terms of sound/performance.

NZ - ok that's what I thought, just clarifying. Hmm...makes me kinda regret changing to the hiper.

Yeah, I thought N1's aren't 4in, even the GT is only 95mm, which is slightly less than 4 in right?

Any event, it WILL be loud.
