Question Drivers side 1/2" lower than passanger side??

I noticed a couple of weeks after I bought my car that the drivers side sits LOWER to the ground than my passanger side

Now I went out an measured it and the drivers side is about 6 1/2 inches from the ground to the plastic skirt.

The passanger side is 7 inches from the ground. The car is on stock springs/shocks/everything. Is my dirvers side too low? Or my passanger side to high?

And what could this be? Im thinking dead shock or something...but the car doesnt bounce around and it handles just fine

Please help?

I've seen this on tons of TII's...including mine. You need new springs...the stock ones are worn out on the driver's side.

I would lean toward sagging springs. As a car gets older, especially sports cars where the driver is typically the only person in the car, the shocks sag under the weight. being that your car had a driver only, just like most other RX's out there, the driver side springs sag more. I would probably look into a new set of springs and shocks if you are worried about it, but I wouldn't be unless it makes it undrivable on the street, or you have the money to blow on it

p.s. what tires are those on your car?

Dunlop sport FM 901 on three wheels.

I recently got a flat and had to replace the rear drivers side with a yokohama as430 because i didnt want to wait a week for the dunlop to arrive.

Wrong, I bet aftermarkets sit the same way I have seen a TON of FC's with aftermarket springs/struts sit lower on the drivers side. It could be a sign that the car had a pretty decent accident before, or thats just the way these cars sit. Many DSM's and hondas have similar problems.

Jon88se has a point... When i had my old suspension still installed on my vehicle i noticed the problem of the drivers side sagging. I finished the installation of new shocks and eibach springs and still the problem is present. Nearly every FC i've seen has this same issue. Not really sure what the resolution could be...

Regards,
-Markus

FYI, mazda springs have different part numbers for the left and right of the car...most makers use the same one I wonder if that means anything...the solution is height adjustability and corner weighting.

mazda may have made the car like this becuase it would balance the car better left to right by putting more weight on the right of the car to compensate for the driver's weight

It's also because the steering rack and the battery is on that side, Im pretty sure most cars do it, I know my Impreza does also with STI Struts and Springs..

Eh, I don't think the battery or anything weight wise in the engine bay is relevant...I've seen it on TII's as well as NA's and the TII has the turbo all the way on the passenger side and the whole setup is comparable in weight to a battery. As I said before, lots of cars have this problem...our cars are getting old, who knows what car may have taken a nice hit.

maybe its old brummy bushings not letting the car return to full height on that side after it is pushed down from the driver's weight.

Hmmm I doubt it - I put my coilovers in at the same time as my energy suspension master poly bushing kit so it's hard to say...I don't think they could effect ride height, especially to that degree. I think you would notice the bushings in driving if they were that bad...noises and all.

I don't know what's up with your guys' cars, I've got about 5" on both sides. I have coilovers, sway bars, rear camber link, and rear toe eliminator bushings.

That would make no sense for US cars because when the driver got in the car, the driver's side would go even lower and the car would handle WORSE.

That really tells us nothing as with coilovers you can adjust your own ride height...I don't have this issue anymore bc I put in coilovers. When I used to run suspenion technique springs and KYB struts/shocks my drivers side was about .5 inch lower.

I realize, but my spring seats are just as far down on one side as on the other.
