Driveline Question
well, the other day i was on my way to work, my car made some funny sounds in the tranny then locked at a stoplight, the rear wheels would not move, even when pushed by a truck. i had the car towed to my house.
yesterday when i lifted the rear of the car, i could turn the rear wheels freely by hand, started the car and let out on the clutch in first, nothin, so i figured it was the tranny that died. but when the car is sitting on the ground the rear wheels wont move, even when pushed or pulled. plus it will idle in neutral with the clutch out.
are both the tranny and diff dead?? or something else wrong. i think my tranny died though

Will the shift lever select in & out of all gears?
With the rear jacked, tranny in neutral, will the engine spin the wheels?

Look at the driveshaft flange on the diff while someone turns the rear wheel back & forth.
There should be enough backlash in the front diveline to see if it's locked up.
