This thread reminded me of what my mom told me.
We had a 96 Z28 camaro and she told me one night she hauled *** and whipped the steering wheel right then whipped it left to make a left turn "drift".

When I started talking about drifting and she said that. I was like" WHAAAAAAA!TTTT!"
My mom has DRIFTED before and on PURPOSE!

We also had a geo metro which she loved to get air born. She also got it on 2 wheels before.

It was soo funny.

Well what I was aiming at was mainly the rear suspesion of the FC,I had heard that its more difficult because of the suspension, might have been a TII but any way, something about the design making it more difficult to drift, I mean of course you can learn that feel and get around that and be able to drift?

Secondly I always wonder how come on the thousands of drift vids I've seen, it seems there are many more 240's or silvia's being drifted, might be due because there are so many more silvia's than FC's or FD's readily around and forsale or what not?

You know what I have been tossing around, trying to either find some way of renting or getting permission to have drifting in some big a$$ parking lot, and of course it would be awesome to build a nice size drift track, but that might become pricey. I'm thinking the parking lot idea might work better until the money is flowing better! In cali I've heard and seen the drifting competition they have, but its like in some parking lot, I'm wanting to make some hardcore track strickly for drifting, I love the stuff and just wanna learn and get better I'm sure others are egar for the same thing. The city streets just aren't the place to be doing it, mainly cause of getting busted for wreckless endangerment or something!

Naw.. its not that. It's because there cheeper to repair than rx-7's, there alot cheeper to upgrade in a lot of cases, not to mention more popular.

I SAID: try driving hard in the rain, mucho experience, less wear and tear on the car.

SHEESH sorry didnt mean that to sound like you should drift on the normal city streets when raining! hope my post didnt lead to any kids trying to explain to their parents why their car is up in a tree. i just meant in parking lots and at autox in the rain. the less control in the rain eventually makes you a better driver if you have to cope with that kind of situation alot.

It's all personal preference. I personaly have liked cars with softer front than back. My pals FD had rock hard rear. I havent gotten enought money to get adjustibul supention on my FC yet, so i have no advice, But from what i can feel from my car right now, im going to have to say it needs to be stiff, and a tad bit tighter.

the reason i think there are more silvias and 180's is because, at least in my opinion, they are better for drift. if i was going to make a car strictly for drifting, it'd be a 240sx with a silvia swap. dont get me wrong i love my 7 and it drifts quite well. but to me the 240sx/silvia is so much easier to control when sideways. its almost as if nissan built the car specificaly for drifting. oh and being so cheap to maintain and modify doesnt hurt either. their being popular is kind of a by-product of all their good qualities.

oh and blindsite, it sounds like your car is just snapping back inline as it comes out of the slide. try lowering the air pressures a bit in the rear say 25psi, going to a less grippy tire, or something else that results in less grip in the rear. its either that or add power or suspension mods. whats happening is as the car is coming out of the slide, its jumping around on its tire sidewalls and suspension(if stock) my other car does it pretty bad in the dry, but not so much in the wet. the way to cure this problem isnt neccesarily in your technique. you might have to allow for less grip on the rear or more power to better overcome the grip you already have. a stiffer suspension, like at least a set of shocks, would help by not letting the car compress its suspension as much as it enters and exits the slide. it takes the weight of the car being thrown from side to side a little better. hope this helps a bit. happy sliding.

To me its all driver, I usually wait until the last possible second to pull out of the drift. What I found out the works for me is to go into the corner normally and rock the wheel quickly while i nail the gas, and crank the wheels as quickly as I can to the other side. Next, when you are coming out of it, pause for about a half second before you let the wheel go. Assist the wheels to being strait again and you are done. You might want to practice this in loose dirt like a dirt road or a dirt field, that where I did mine and it worked out just fine for me.

Just curious, how many of you have actually drifted on a laid out course or successfully connected 3 or more drifts together?
