do you buy the rear used? or scavange? id imagine it'd be hard to consistantly find dunlop 5000s's used every week. see i go through too many rear tires every week, if i baught them all, it'd be rediculas. Do you mount your own tires?

the steering angle kit helps A LOT i can vouch for that!

Get KTS coilovers from SPLparts.com. They are like $1100 shipped and work 100 times better than any shock/spring combo.

On a drift car the last thing to slouch on would be suspension.

Yea, that truly is the biggest advantage to coilovers - corner weight, or balance the car.

I drove an s13 last night with stance coilovers, and I really liked the setup.

Smokie, Tokico only has adj. and non-adj. shocks for the FC, no true coilover setup.

As I said in the first post, I'm riding NEW dunlops on the front, and the front doesn't lose near as much tread as the rear, so I don't need new tires as often. Recently, I just got ahold of some Falken 205 55 15s from my freind USED. Whatever works, and I'm happy seeing as they costed me nothing. Also, I'm not throwing out killer amounts of smoke, and I don't see how you go through so many tires a week as you don't even enter real events.

I have NO intentions of being cheap, and thats not what this thread is about. I started this thread with intentions to figure out how kyb agx with a stiff spring would compare to a true coilover setup.

Coilover FTW. There's an entire coilover thread too, so we don't need to get into that discussion...

Whats everyones suspension setup?

by far the most easy / cheapest way to drift is what I have recently been using. You can be in any gear, and dont have to have much power. You have to premix your fuel with a little bit of oil, and then run your OMP pump lines all the way to the rear above your rear tires. When ever you hit the gas it starts to squirt oil on your rear tires. Works every time. Stock suspension. I have noticed my 1/4 mile times drop a few seconds also.

Works best with street tires that have been converted into racing slicks like these.

*incase any1 is confused ... that was a joke dont do it please. But then again .... if u were thinking about doing it .. go for it. Natrual selection has failed us 2 much lately*

You are a ******* dumbass.

my drift setup consists of a bone stock 86 gxl with worn out factory everything except the motor which has about 6 miles on it now. it wont last long though. i learned to drift on s13 and i had the s13 pretty well balanced and built, stock motor just all suspension stuff. i dont know how you can be finding 4th gear corners around. we have this huge sweeping 8 lane L turn that we all go out and hit and pinning at the top of third we are still running out of room so 4th is insane. suspension over power any day and its true that you dont need coilovers but then again the mentality is that you dont own a drift car till you have coilovers and a 2 way lsd. i know plenty of kids that do very well that do not have either of those. they do have lsd in some form or other and they do have suspension too but not 1500$ coilovers and 1k$ lsd

I have megan, they look good, can't say much more then that as my car is at a shop getting a different stand alone installed, but buddy of mine who;s in formula D has megan's on FC and it handles well, buddy also has a 240 with them, for the price i can't argue, of course i'd like some tein's or cusco's but i payed 700 installed for my megans.

Wow, lol really glad i read a lot of this stuff before i went looking for suspension for drifting. Cause at first i was considering a setup with kyb agx adjustable shock with whatever select springs for my FC or considering coilovers, but its good to know coilovers are the way to go.

I've heard good things about KTS, and they felt nice, solid and firm when I rode in an S14 with them.

However, there is absolutely no opposition to Koni Yellows and GC coils. Everyone has positive things to say about them, and would probably be the safest bet.

You dont absolutely need them to drift, but if you want to be competitive yes you do need coilovers. i'm saving for mine. hopefully within the month I'll have em.

I am wanting to get back into drifting but it seems like there are to many **** wits for it to be fun again. My teins with EDC are supposed to be in sometime this month, and hopefully my T2 swap will follow suit into my lil vert. I wan to be competitive again but damn Id hate to cage a vert.

^ I hear ya. That's why I want to give some road racing a shot as well. I figure the car needs to be set up in a similar way as drifting so I can do both at the same time. But road racing takes more skill than drifting that's for sure. It's more technical and should be lots of fun.
Why worry cage the vert! lol

I agree with Ted. Theres no reason to be going that fast on the street, especially if you are trying to drift. I dont care how good you think you are, its juvenile.
